Quick question...If you look at your license plate, Was the plate screwed in the bumper?

Theres a plastic plate holder on the bumper.
Does anybody have a nice way to mount a front license plate without drilling the bumper?(shrug)

The front license plate is still a requirment in OH.

Wow. I paid 28K out the door for my mazda3 s gt. I guess I got the wrong thing, oh well. But I did get the Bose stereo and moonroof and some extra warranties.

ReFlex: I didn't take a look, but yeah, like CTGrey2 said, it's usually stickied. I wish I can leave it off, but NJ laws require a front plate. :(

Freediverdude: Which Mazda3 did you get? If the regular edition, that's a lot!

I got a 2007 Mazda3 s gt hatchback. Phantom Blue. The options were the Bose/moonroof package, Sirius, and wheel locks. I think the price of the car was 23-something, and then dealer prep fee, tax, title, license, 5 year bumper to bumper on the warranty, tire warranty, GAP insurance, and some other insurance that gives you $5000 cash in addition to paying off the car if it's totaled. Somehow that brought it up to 28-something. I'll see if this link works to the webshots page where I have pics of it.....

Where are you located? $28k sounds about right for a 3 hatch in Canada.

I'm in Florida, US. Sorry I guess I should fill in more of my profile now, hehe.

edited to add- it's an automatic, so that also adds some cost over a manual. Was that still too much to pay?

Seems a bit high to me. How long is the warranty you added?

Considering the ceiling for any Mazda 3 in Canada including all taxes and other added costs would be a shade over $30k, $28k USD seems like a lot.

I'm lost, doesn't new 3s already come with a standard warranty? 5year bumper to bumper or 60k miles. Which ever comes first?

Well 07 US 3's come standard with a 3 year 36,000 bumper to bumper, and 5 year 60,000 powertrain warranty as of this year. It changed from 06, when it was just a flat 48 month bumper to bumper. So I paid I believe it was around $1300 (i'd have to go back and check paperwork) to upgrade the bumper to bumper to 5 year 60,000.

edited to add- and I paid I think 500-600 for the extra tire warranty, which is if you get a flat or blowout or whatever for any reason, you tow it back to the dealer and they give you a new tire for free, not even prorated, as long as there is 2/32nds tread left. And the warranty also stays in force even if you buy a new set of tires, for the full 5 years, no mileage limitation. So that sounded nice since the dealer price for the stock tires are $224 each I think. I think I priced the same size tire at other places, and it didn't look like those size tires were cheap. Oh, and it also applies to the wheels as well, if they're damaged you get new ones, if i'm reading this correctly.

sounds good

I've had a ton of trouble with my MS3 and I STILL would never get the extended warranty - because I want to feel free to modify this car when the warranty is up.

Yeah true, but also unless you only got a 3 year loan, you'll have to pay for every repair at the same time as making large loan payments for those last couple years. I didn't want to end up in a situation with having huge repairs and still trying to make the payments at the same time.

I have a five year loan, but I'm on an active debt repayment kick. I could conceivably have ALL my debt paid in 2-3 years.

I WILL have this beast paid off before I'm out of warranty - even if I have to prioritize it as the loan that gets paid first.

Thank you! Yes I hope to learn a lot more about Mazdas here. Right now I'm trying to decide to fix my fog light myself or get ***** at the dealer, hehe.

Don't lower a fine mazdaspeed tuned suspension - suspension travel is good for my bumpy streets taken at speed. Be advised that if you use mazdaspeed parts, all of it is covered under the mazda waranty - they offer a ecu upgrade that adds 25hp at the wheels. (probably removing the limiter than reduces torque in 1-2 gear)
