Just got a 2014 Mazda5 GT, still getting used to the car. one feature that kinda annoying is the 2 step down windows, according to the owners manual Mazda dealership can disable it, I don't know if they would charge (probably would) to do it. is there anyway to do it ourself?

This is what the workshop manual for my 2005 Mazda5 says:
Door Glass Position Change Procedure.webp

This is a vague recollection of how it worked on our 2010 Mazda3 which I thought was similar to how the 5 was setup on the 2012 and later years.

1) If you just press and release the window button the window went all the way up or down. Depending on which way you triggered it.

2) If you press and HOLD the window switch it will move up or down and stop as soon as you release it.

Basically it treats a momentary action as full up or full down. Press and hold means to only move until you release so it stops where you want it to like cars used to do.

on the Mazda 5, when pushing the button fully will trigger auto down, which open the window fully.
if pushing the button halfway, it had this 2 step window feature which the window will open for an inch. then stop. if you keep holding the button it will resume opening after a sec or so.
so when i need to open half a window, I need to wait a sec until it resume after it open the first inch. I don't see any purpose for this 2 step and every time when the window stop i would release the button automatically thinking something was trapped (I guess it build into my muscle memory).

I actually like this feature as on hot days I can roll down the window slightly when parking. 1" is perfect, imo.

Is this only on 2012-2014 models? I don't think our 2010 does this. At least it didn't when I tried it last night (dunno)
