New Mazda3 runs rough during warm-up

New 2014 Mazda3 sGT, 45miles on the odometer when I bought it. Now at about 390miles. Didn't observe this behavior before, but the past two mornings the car is running rough upon start up. Low temps are low 60 Fahrenheit, upper 60s when I'm actually starting the car, so blue engine temp light is on during this time. Feels like the engine chugs for a few minutes when driving, not when standing still, until engine warms up. Should I be concerned? Again, did not observe this behavior until yesterday. Thanks.

It doesn't sound like anything to be concerned with. If you notice at start up when the engine is cold the tach will read around 1500 rpm at idle, this is programmed into the ECU to try to heat up the catalytic converters as fast as possible. The car does this to reduce pollution during cold operating conditions. Now, If you start the car when it is warmed up, the car should start to idle around 1000 rpm.

I think the chugging you are experiencing is related to how the car warms up.

Thanks for the reply. I figured it's fine, but I sometimes worry I'm riding the car too hard in this first 600 miles.
