new machines going in oct. 1...here's the changes

  • will detect after market head lamps (i guess i'll be swapping out the HID's before the inspection)
  • emissions every year (currently every other)
  • air bag test (not sure how this will be accomplished?...must be by the odbII)
  • mirrors..both sides and rear view
  • all glass must be intact (that's a good one!)
  • facial recognition for inspection personel (this will stop user fraud?)
what isn't changing is the cost still a nice round # of $29 (in mass will call this another tax!)

Probably nothing you can't fake with some colored tint taped to the headlights (for the inspection).

Oh yeah, we got there at like 530AM...totally forgot since I had been up since 830am the previous day...

Next time though! My clubs having a cruise next sunday :)

^ I see no other way, and what exactly defines an aftermarket headlamp? Would GE and Phillps need stop making HID looking bulbs? Seems to me if you improve your visibility for night driving while keeping to brightness limits of some kind then would that not help in safety?

Just tell them your Miata is only used on the farm...then they don't inspect anything. heh heh.

  • air bag test (not sure how this will be accomplished?...must be by the odbII) if your lights on you fail
  • mirrors..both sides and rear view no problem
  • all glass must be intact (that's a good one!) no problem there
  • facial recognition for inspection personel (this will stop user fraud?) i guess tiny looked into the magic box when he entered his password??

okay, so i go in for my annual inspection..same place i've been going for the past 6 yrs...the first thing tiny (this guy is huge) say's as i drive in "what did we do about your tint last yr?" (nervous) i've had this tint on for 7 yrs, (it's a sliver fade) so i say " nothing, is there something wrong with it?" "ya" he said "any reflective/mirror tint is illegal in MA", "oh" i say..."ya, that will get you in trouble" he say's.(scratch).."no kidding" i say....with that he plugs into the ODBII port...fires up the computer and next thing i know he's slapping the sticker on my windshield..."mark" he say's "have a great day, see you next year"....i didn't even beep the air horn for him!! (thumb)
