new in dash for the 3's

but we should try and start a GB for it...

it has GPS already built in, or is it gps ready?

I loveeee, and my parents bought me it because my 3's been in the shop for 4 weeks now. The only bad thing is I guess they make them to order and I'm not getting it till after Christmas....

Here are some pictures at night.
It looks like if mazda made it for our cars. the best think is that I keep my small LCD working.
I can change the screen menu of orange or blue. Includes cables for ipod so I can connect my ipod and hear music and it can be charging also.
there is rear camera option but i haven't installed it yet, neither the tv receiver, there is a usb connector so i can conect mp3 players or maybe a card reader on it.

have you installed the GPS? -- I'm most curious how the GPS works in conjuction w/ audio or video. For example if you're watching a movie or playing music from an ipod will the unit temporarily pause or lower the volume from the other thing and give you GPS directions...

The GPS comes with the unit, i just need to buy the sd card with the map.

well, my cousin helped me and it was also easy, is just to plug the cables. you dont need to cut anything
although it wasn't easy, acomodate all the cables since they are quite a few of them because of all the options the screen brings with it, but after a little work it was all resolved.

Were you able to connect the Mazda Sirius Satellite System to the unit and have it function?

If you were able to...I would seriously want to but one now!

I'm sure they thought about that and the clock has to be part of the radio so it wouldn't even show up if they wasn't a way to turn it on.

Im sure the unit itself has its own clock, but the clock thats in the LCD area is controlled by the stock HU, as well as the trip computer on some. Thats like the ONLY thing thats keeping me from getting all excited about this thing. If I had manual HVAC controls, Id totally rip out my LCD bar and just run that thing.

Audio improvements/GPS flip up

New user here and love the website. I have spent some time among different forum websites for the Mazda 3 looking for ideas and different options.
I have a 2008 Mazda 3 GT. No Bose stereo with the trip computer that comes with the GT obviously. I am most certainly a newbie with stereos and I have a Bose stereo with my Nissan Pathfinder. I wished now that I had gotten the Bose as I am not real happy with my standard stereo.
My question is to the pros out there is could I add an amp to my standard stereo to help? I dont want to lose my trip computer as I figured I would if I got an aftermarket. Obviously I would need new speakers as well.
I am also interested in the flip up dash molding. Is there a flip up molding that can house a portable GPS?
I'll take advice, ideas, website addresses, etc.

agreed. the bose is decent as far as stock goes. but speaking from experience..i used to have a bose system in my old car then i switched to quality aftermarket stuff and it was tooooonnnnnsss better

i dont think they make any other flip up nav holders for portable gps units. its an interesting idea...

right now the one discussed in this thread is the only one out..
