xelderx

Zoom Zoom Boom X 3
The new size which has been approved for production, is the P275/35ZR-15 A6. The diameter will be 22.9" with a tread width of 10.3". On a 9.5" wide rim, the total width should be 11.25". This tire will be used on a 8.0" - 10.0" wide rim.

Release scheduled for late February/ early March.

I've got to get a 15X10 rim now so I can start doing some test fitting.

Yea..they are going to stick out a little. Hopefully this will even up the playing field a little more between me and all the anorexic FSP Hondas/VWs

Do you think you'll be able to get enough heat into them for a cold fall Kansas morning? I ran 275s on a 3600 lb Trans Am and we had better grip on cold mornings than the guys running 315s because they couldn't get the temps up. This was also with co-drivers. Just something to think about before spending the money.

Getting heat in the tires wasn't a problem for me in Kansas on the 225s. We just had trouble keeping the heat in the tires w/ the long runs from grid to the course. I was just dragging the the brakes all the way to the start line to heat the rims up.

Weird...I didn't get any emails saying the thread had been updated. Oh well..

Who knows? I saw the size and thought of your car right away for some reason. Good luck getting them to work/fit on the car.

Fitment shouldn't be a problem since the overall diameter is exactly the same as my 225/45-15. Well see how the fronts clear the fenders at full lock. The 225s clear with ease and I have them spaced out 15mm. If I take the spacer out I'm sure they'll tuck right in. The rears will probably stick out around 1 inch. My spring rates are stiff enough that only severe bumps get the tire close to the fenders and I was thinking about upping the springrates next season anyway.

Well, you better hope that they don't/won't/can't use those tires as well! And I'm thinkin' they'll be more obliged to sawzall the fenders than you seem to be. (peep)

Either way, man. I would LOVE to see those things on your car!

And I'm of the school of thought that wider is better when it comes to R comps. That's why I'm running 225's on a 5.5" wheel in HS now! :)

Good luck, Justin.

I doubt that any of the top dogs will switch to this tire. They are more concerned with weight. We'll have to wait and see though.

plus even as short as the new size is, it will still cost them gearing.

you'll probably have to up the springrates anyway to deal w/ the increased body roll you'll get from an additional 50mm of rubber on each corner. time to sawzall those fenders and add some fiberglass flares.

Don't tempt me.

Justin, who makes 15x10 rims that'll fit our car? Any idea what kind of offset we'll need?

You can get a cheap set from Diamond Racing Wheels. I'm not sure about the offset just yet. My FD rims are -50 offset. It will be close to that, but not any larger.

Justin, do you know if Diamond racing can make them light though? I suppose cheap is good, wide size is good, fitting the 275's is good. But looking at their website, it seems that the lightest I could find in a good 15" size is the Avenger series at 18lbs!

I'd love to see the fenders on our corolla sawzalled with some aftermarket flares and those 275's under there as well!

I'll be using the Diamond's for testing and such. When it comes time though I'll probably drop a little coin on a set of Kodiaks. I'm sure they probably won't wiegh any more than my Koseis.

:D that would be sweet. this size could end up reshuffling the SP deck a little, like the 285/30/18 did. i suspect a 2200lb AE86 on 275s might keep up pretty well in DSP w/ a 2800lb BMW on 285s.
