Hello just thought I would introduce myself. Ah my name is andrew and I am a begining mechanic 3 to 4 years in the field. I am a drummer and avid music fan everything from Deftones to Mr.bungle, and alot more. I live in austin which I love. I currentely own a 1994 p10 g20 wich is fun, but I want something else so I decided I would buy an mx-3 and swap a bp 1.8 inline 4 cyl. into it. So that will be my first mazda as I am tired of Nissans and Hondas especially the latter. Anyway this is my new forum home so Hello!!

Newbie here from the Phillipines!

Hi,

Glad to join this forum :)

I'm currently into engine swap project wherein I will use 1994 B5 Dohc EFI for my Kia CD5 which also belongs to Mazda Family.

Engine is alreay inplace, we are now in the final process of identifying the Mazda wiring harness specifically the igniter which is different to newer models.

Hope I can find the manuals I need here (and also upgrades (gossip) ) !!

Welcome! I take it this was a 4 cy. Mx3 that you bought...?

Yes but I have not purchased it yet my g20 goes for sale in 6 days. I realize I have to find a sohc mx3. So far in Austin that has impossible I am keeping my eyes out though. I have found a couple of escort gt's that have me interested and are very cheap.

Inline is the correct terminology. Inline refers the the orientation of the cylinders to one another. Transverse refers to the orientation of the engine to the chassis. Nice try.

OP- Are you swapping to just a BP or a BP-T?

Another option is to get a MX3 with the 1.8L v6 and swap in a KLZE. I think you'll have a lot more fun with that. It's basically plug and play, as much as an engine swap can be. With how much the MX3 weighs, and the power of the KLZE, you'll have a pretty potent little sleeper.

I guess a BP is a more original swap, if that's what you're going for.

makes sense, ok. I always thought it was just engine to chassis orientation, I did know that what he meant but had to ask anyway. lol
