New guy here...First questions!!!

I recently acquired an '02 P5. I am looking to remove the roof rack. Not just the cross bars.
1. Will the whole black "side rail" pieces come off, or are there cover plates to snap in there when the cross bars are removed?

2. Are the "Protege5" and the "Mazda" badges on the rear stuck on, or do they have the posts with holes in the body?

1) there are cover plates that snap into place, or if you can find someone with a 03.5 or canadian model, you can remove the roof rack completely. check around for the covers, i sold mine recently, so there's some floating around here.

2)the badges are held on by posts so if you remove them you need to fill in the holes.

Outstanding! Thanks for the info... I almost shaved the badges today, but thought I'd better ask first!..glad I did..

I think I agree with you.... Is yours a complete removal, or did you paint the rails to match? You say "good luck'.... Are they hard to find???

My rails are black, so no they are not painted. I didnt have the unfortunate responsibility of taking one of those racks off. Mine came w/o one, but Ive have people tell me they would take mine if I ever wanted a rack.

the roof rack fillers are about $60 each from the dealer i believe. to remove them, ull have to drop your entire roof lining and all kind of other fun stuff. good luck to you dude

and yep, like the others have said, u there are prongs on the emblems, so ull have to bondo/weld the holes if u want to shave them off.

Thanks for the info, but I am just looking for the "caps" to cover when the cross bars are removed.. Not shave the whole thing with the filler strips.

You should also check with fc3sboy. He works for/with SPD Racing, and I got mine from them for $26 shipped from a listing they put up on ebay.
