New England (MA) Winding Roads... FTW

I love the fact that this state has so many winding and twisty roads to drive on. Our state has some great elavation changing roads with tons of turns, sure it's no tail of the dragon. But there is some great driving roads in the state (and sorrounding). There's even a couple of sweet spots here and there not to far away from boston. One of my favorites is in the south shore.(glare) Just thought this would be a fun thread (first)

I have to agree wiht you man. When I was younger and bored, I'd pick a route and follow it from start to finish. I found some really god places.

I tell you I love the drive up in Vermont from Brattleboro up, I think it's 100 along the river, sweet piece of road.

Next time you want to go for a joy ride, plan a trip through Weston, Dover and Sherborn. It is best during the summer and fall months. The roads are very smooth and narrow because they get very little heavy traffic. You won't be going fast but they will keep you shifting between 2nd, 3rd and 4th.

Western and Middle Mass have the best roads! We have a couple of decent ones here in eastern Mass but nearly as many.

RT2 out near Florida and North Adams, MA FTW. RT 9 out by the NY line is awesome too. RT 7, 8 from the North Adams area to To Rt 41 in south west MA to CT, hopefully you get to bump into Lime Rock Park too.

I grew up in Princeton...driving the roads around Mt. Wachusett and the state parks in Rutland. Good driving out there too.

Sounds great! Sounds like a great drive, I've got to take a week sometime this summer just go drive wherever the road takes me.
Anyone have any highly recomended twisty with lots of turns? Nothing necesarily high speed but just an enjoyable turn after turn?

If you are gonna take a week off to drive...forget Masachusetts. Plan a trip up VT, across to NH, over the Kangamangus, and then back down the other side. Take your wife/gf and stay at a few B&Bs along the way.

Lol yeah I kind of meant the surrounding area too but thanks for the tip.:)

I went on a cruise w/some MR2 folks a couple years back when I had my Miata. We started at the Holyoke Mall and headed west from there. The roads these guys knew were freakin' awesome. Twisty, windy, hilly roads with little traffic and not alot of cops. (Although 1 guy did get stopped.) I don't remember the exact towns, except for Washington, MA. I had no idea that there was a Washington, MA. :) They'd probably scoff at a bunch of Protege folks wanting to follow them around, but we should try to get a cruise going with them at some point. It was a blast!

Sounds like fun, there are some great roads around here. I'm thinking of looking at s2000 and miata forums (and motorcycle forums) to see where those guys tend to meet up.
