New CX-9 owner... a couple of questions.

Hello,

Just picked up a CX-9 2010 GT AWD with bose/moonroof and nav options yesterday for my wife. Drives great and handles almost as well as my 2010 Mazda 3 GT.

I have a couple of questions and would appreciate partaking of the wisdom of other owners here.

1. On my Mazda 3 GT, there are a number of customizable/programmable options that the dealer/service person could do (one example that I find very useful is setting the turn indicators to blink 3 times when the wand is partially depressed/lifted and released; another example is setting the duration of the follow-me lights (lights staying on after everything is switched off) and the duration of the interior lighting). Do such programmable options exist in the CX-9? I did not find any mention of them in the manual.

2. My CX-9, though new, had been sitting on the dealer's lot for about 9 months - it was delivered to the dealer in Jan 2010. Since it only has 31 miles on it, I assumed that it hadn't been abused on too many test drives and purchased it. However, I now see that it has an older version of the maps DVDs (v 2008). I believe that I am entitled to get a free upgrade to the current version of the maps. Does Mazda have an official policy regarding this? Should I push the dealer to give me the current version of the maps for free or, should I call MazdaUSA Customer Service? I'd hate to have to cough up $199 for newer maps on a brand new car.

Thanks!
MediocreFred.

I certainly would try to get the updated version! At $200, it is way too much for a "new" vehicle buyer to simply absorb. You purchased a NEW 2010 and it should have the latest NAV DVD offered. I'm just saying.........

Congrats with your purchase of a 2010 CX9 GT AWD.
The customizeable features should be listed in your owners' manual.
For 2010, a known feature is "speed-senstive auto lock", which is not available on pre-2009.
(see other thread for details on how-to)
Customizng features you want should be free for the 1st time at the dealer where you made the pruchase.
If not, argue with the manager.

As for map, Mazda takes the map from MapQuest and incorporates it into a disc for Mazda CX9.
Mazda apparently does not do this every year. The newest map is likely 2009.v1.
I heard that some owners have called Mazda corporate on this, and got reimburstment from the purchase of a new disc
from mazdanavagation.com. Try calling the Mazda corporate and see what they say about it.
