Hey guys, i'm watching tech tv(g4) right now and they are talking about all the new consoles that are coming out this/next year such as the new x-box, playstation, nintendo...

so i was just wondering what you think about them and which one would you buy if any.

if there is already a thread on this then can you tell me the name of it and i'll just check that out.

4 to 5hundred bux for a system for better graphics and bad rushed first gen games??? Nah i think i'll keep my ps2 for another 2 years before i switch. Did the same with ps2 when it first came out. All the hype but no good games.

Ill get ps3 because it will have better games as usual plus is will most likely have better performance than the 360 since its being released later.

I'll be picking up the 360 on launch day. I always like to get the new s*** first. I'm not really too impressed with the launch games except for Ghost Recon 3. So the backwards compatability will come in handy until new games come out for it.

perfect dark looks okay but I never liked any FPS games on a console. PC is just a better platiform for that kinda games.

GR3 should come out for PC as well. If you have the right hardware then you will have a killer time. Too bad a top of the line video card costs what the whole console plus controllers, DV cable, hard drive and other goodies costs.
The r520 based card in the 360 should cost close to 450$ when it comes out.
The r580 has allready taped out though so it will be one upped soon enough.
I would imagine anything 6600GT level and up will playthe game fairly well but to max it you'll probally need to be packing r520 in crossfire mode or 7800 in SLI.

It is far more than "better" graphics and GR3 is badass! Of course I am referring to the X360 version. I do want a PS3 as well but I will have to wait until Spring 06 to get one.
It will take some time to tap the vast resources of these new UBER consoles but I am sure some of the launch titles will be pretty impressive.

Graphics are like strippers. Its nice for the first few mins, but after you've watched it for a while its just the same s*** over and over again. I'd rather have a game with sustance than flash.

Listen, there will be vast improvments in gameplay, physics, postitional sound, much better A.I., and the immersion vactor of these incredible new graphics will add to one of the most important factors in any game, suspension of disbelief.
It goes way beyond flash. It is closer to reality than ever before. There will be more susbtance than you can swallow. I hate consoles my 6 gaming boxes kill any current console but these new boxes coming out from Sony and Micro$oft are a huge leap in the right direction. They are good enough to impress a PC snob like me :)
Just wait you will want one.

Most of my favorite games are on the Super nintendo. Final Fantasy III with its bad graphics had depth that no new systems been able to get.

Hmm you aren't on any hallucinogenic drugs are you :)
Well I think your fondness of such games is due more to nostalgia than substance. I'll take substance over nostalgia any day :P

i plan on getting xbox 360 when it comes out....i could right this whole schpeil about it but basically ill be getting 360 on launch day and spending mad loot on it. and ill be getting nintendos revolution simply for its claimed "we will have any game we every created for you to download" thing. so those are the only two i will be getting...

also 360 will be comming out in bundles, yes its expensive but you basically get everything youl need for a few months. i mean on ebgames.com it says it all but ill be getting the premium package! i already reserved it before the packages came out i gotta hit up ebgames and change it up and ill put more money down lol!

PS3 > Xbox 360
If I am to get a system, I'd wait till GT5 comes out before actually buying a system.

i'm a devout xbox-er, but as of now, i have yet to see one attractive launch title. i'll be waiting until at least spring when halo is released.

sure the ps3 has tons of games, but i'm definitely an online gamer. currently, their online system is complete s*** in my eyes. maybe if they improve that aspect big time, i'd consider it. that's alot of money for a console .. i'd be inclined to spend a bit more and build a pc.

The first system I get will probably be the Nintendo Revolution, then the 360, and probably PS3. What I like about Nintendo is their free online service plus the great games the produce, despite not being as powerful as its opposition.

Food for thought...

* PlayStation 3 GPU Less Powerful than GeForce 7800 (from TeamXbox.com)
The Inquirer reports that an nVIDIA spokesperson was quoted in the Official PlayStation Magazine saying that the RSX GPU is basically a slightly less powerful GeForce 7800.
That means that almost a year before launch, theres a PC graphics chip that is more powerful than the RSX GPU found in the PlayStation 3. And make no mistake, this is not a crazy, speculative conclusion ; this comes straight from the company that makes both parts: the RSX and GeForce 7800 graphics processing units.

I'll say one thing. I do NOT like the two different packages of the Xbox. One without the hard drive, and one with. I think this going to cause a lot of confusion for novice buyers, and even more importantly, the developers of the games.
