Hey guys I need some suggestions. I want to get a new clutch soon and I have no idea what to get. But I figure if I need to change it out I might as well get one thats better than a stock replacement. This is my daily driver and I dont have any forced induction. I have heard Spec and ACT are good....but which models should I go with?

Thanks,

Jaime

Hey Jaime, do you mind if I ask how your rims/tires work for ya? Any rubbing?
Oh, get the Spec 1 from Mamotorsports. Best deal bar none.

$269 for the clutch (spec stage 1)
$379 flywheel...

at MAM

ddogg777,

Advan Kreuzers - 18"s - $3000
Yokohama Parada Spec2 - I think it was around $600-700 installed

No rubbing, but then again my car isnt lowered at all. I really need to lower it, but I'm afraid I'm going to rub with the Eibach kit so I really want to go with coilovers for both the right drop and the awesome handling. To bad I'm broke off my ass right now, hehe.

Anyone else who can answer,

I heard something about when you replace you clutch you have to resurface something? I have no idea since I have never replaced a clutch before. Can someone clue me in on this?

Thanks,

Jaime

That would be the flywheel Jaime. The surface of the flywheel may have imperfections ground in to it from the original clutch and when you change them, you want the flywheel to be flat again because the new clutch will have a different "fingerprint" of imperfections. It's just like when you change your brake pads you should resurface your rotors so that they are "true".

the spec 3 hybrid puck clutch is $359,
and the full face (uber mega torque handling stage 3) is $589, but it holds like 600 lb-ft, so unless you REALLY need it get the hybrid

i need a spec 3... giving them a call now even if it is international... the ACT's just dont hold enough power

Is the stage 3 clutch harsh since its a puck?

nope, linux has the stage 3 and he says its very driveable. I have a spec stage 2 being installed today :)
I hope the dealership resurfaced the flywheel...

the stage 3 hybrid is AWESOME. i just got it back today from installing it. OEM feel but can hold 400ft/lb! I RECOMMEND IT!

I have a used (26,000 miles) ACT pressure plate I'd sell for 100, and then you'd need the ACT disc which is about 75-100. So you'd have a full kit good to about 15 psi (250ish hp) for 200 bucks or less.

Stay away from the Clutchmaster IIR...

Bump for MAM and the Spec Series Clutch.... I just got my Stage3H...and LOVE IT.
