Thank goodness I found you.
A 2000 Mazda Protege was my first car. It got wrecked spring of 07 and I played around on the sport bike and an 87 Fiero while saving for another Protege. Found an 02 obnoxious yellow rebuilt hatchback in September on Cleveland's Craigslist for $4500 and snatched it up. Can't for the life of me find a Haynes or Chilton for the sucker. It needs a bit more work - no horn or fog lights, squeaks everywhere, pretty sure it was mechanically neglected(no regular maintenance done to it). The suspension is very stiff but the car lacks any punch, even though it's a stick and (I'm assuming) the 2L engine. So here's my questions:
*I need a good, thorough repair manuel, and not an electronic one. Cost and time to print the pdf version are less appealing that buying one that I can thumb through in the garage. Any resources or leads on someone selling it?
*Like I said, the car lacks punch. My truck would roast it and that's not cool. I'm assuming that it hasn't had mods, everything under the hood looks stock except for the stupid red wiring harness covers everywhere (They couldn't at least find yellow ones to make it match, could they?). After I replace the fuel filter, air filter and plugs, and run STP through the tank, what next? Anyone else have this problem?
*It's got the deeply tinted windows, stick, stiff suspension, feels like a sport package. How can I tell if it is and how does the sport package (or whatever you call it) differ from the base model?
Oh BTW, here's that junk introductory stuff you're supposed to do.....I live in NE Ohio and thrash motorcycles on the racetrack for fun. I wrench and mod my own bikes (you wreck it, you fix it) but keep to the basics on cars 'cause they're a bit more expensive to fix. I like to drive things that are well kept and look clean and am a stickler for safety wiring, maintenance schedules, and Disturbed in the CD player. I'm married and my other half is the exact opposite, maintenance is wishing you had fixed it before you got stranded and bikes are for leasurly sunny afternoon rides when you feel melancholy. You'll find me cruising the highways late at night when the traffic dies down, and you won't catch me.
