New "Car Knowledge" Section

Just an idea, how about a new section that teaches about cars - engine parts, exhausts, transmissions, things of that nature. Now the section should not be a Vendor specific, merely what does a Downpipe do, why is it good to have one etc...

There seems to be a ton of extremely smart individuals on here, and would be great for those not as smart (me) and other new members to have a section to learn about those things without having to search the web.

Once again, just a idea.

Exactly my point, go put any keyword in google and you receive thousands of "hits" most of which are just companies trying to sell it, not necessarily give what it does, what makes a good product, and things like that. To me it just makes sense, since there are people on here who have the knowledge to teach, are given the opportunity to do so...

well it be kinda hard to get a database going because there is a wide selection of topics. just ask and people will answer.

i really like the idea of a Car Knowledge section...it could be like the Idiot's Haven where we could go and ask a question, without interrupting a group buy or threadjacking.

And of course we would have a no "SEARCH!" rule

I doubt you'll ever see a section such as this (not saying it's a bad idea). However, check out www.howstuffworks.com . They have A LOT of good articles explaining how such items that you mentioned work.

I don't think howstuffworks goes into enough detail, or covers enough topics for our desires. Like OhioMSP said, what's a downpipe, or what's a ground wire kit do?

I also don't see why people are against this idea. It's not gonna kill anyone to add a new section, but it might end threadjacks/rants.

Edit: Sorry didn't see that it was already mentioned. Anyhow, yeah actually this site does go into a great amount of detail. On top of that the last page of ever topic is a bunch of links to even more in depth info. on that specific topic.
