Just added a third mazda to my family, a 90 323, base model with no options at all, it was a florida car, so it has almost no rust at all, a rarity in michigan. I will need some assistance on locating some parts for it, like shifter bushings for example.
its dark outside right now, so no pictures.

Those are fun cars. Drop a BP in it, doesn't need to be turbo and that car would rock.

some pictures!

Got it running today, gave a bath... or ...two, cleaned up insides, still need to fix clutch and attach bumper. BP is the escort GT motor?

BP was in Protege's of the same year and some Escorts. 1.8L DOHC, it'll add about 25HP or so (I think).

Thats a clean 323, nice find.

are the old escorts gt same underneath as the 323? i need to source some shifter bushings, full exhaust system (flex pipe back) mine is not there, and few other minor things. I am seriously considering turning this into auto x car next year.

Not sure on the escort but if you could find any protege from 90 to 94 it'll work. I'm thinking a BP swap from a protege would keep you in stock class and you would totally dominate with good rubber, shocks and bracing.

I don't think there is a limit on that. Go for lightweight and good grip. 15" probably has the best range of reasonably priced performance tires and lightweight wheels. Tires can vary by as much as 5 pounds each and thats unsprung spinning weight. Extra weight in wheels and tires hurts acceleration, braking and handling.

if you check the vin on both cars ..323 and the escort g.t. you will fing the following letters... b.g. thats the platform ... they are the same ...well almost..
