New Amps (US AMPS)

I am looking in to upgrading my amps in my car really soon and i kind of have my eyes on a pair from US amps. The Merlin2 md1d and the md42 and i haven't herd many reviews on them as they are new this year and i was wondering if anyone is using them or has used US Amps before. My system right now id a DD 3500 12" sub, Macrom m1s.60 fronts and rear, 2 alpine mrd300 (335rms ea.) If you have any opinions on us amps let me know as this is going to be a pricey upgrade.(help)

All I know is that there specs make absolutely no sense logicly physicl. Website sucks too.

US Amps makes solid amps. I ran an md2 awhile back, and it worked great. Put out a lot of clean power, and had no problem with 1 ohm loads. I even tested it out at .5 ohms with no problems, but I wouldn't suggest doing that.

And their site is WAY too compliated now, and hard to load. So I can see why people would have a problem with it.

And FYI, the shop I work for is an authorized DD dealer. Those 3500's are pretty nice. I have used them as well, and they get real loud, and can handle large amounts of power. (cabpatch)

Specs are 60X4@4ohms
80x4@2ohms
and 1200x1@1ohm
Now how the hell do you make a 4 channel into a one channel for 12x the power. I think it was ment to be 120X2@4 ohms which is koscher

450x1@2ohms > BS an amp can not truely double its power when bridged, not physicly possible. So more then doubling is obviously not possible either.
1500x1@1ohm > WAY not possible
only one of these specs can be correct the others are false.

They do have a great rep but something is amiss for me with their numbers.


Take a Jl audio a1400 as an example:
320 W RMS x 1 @ 4 ohm
500 W RMS x 1 @ 2 ohm
These are realistic numbers for halving the resistance,

I use to run two alpine type R's but they hold nothing when side by side with DD 3500. Do you think it would be a goos set up to run those two amps and will the MD1D match the DD3500 nicely. Also PM me with the prices if you can and the name of your shop and location.
