New Alarm system for MSP

If all go as planned, I could be picking up my MSP this weekend. Now the fun part begins starting with an alarm/turbo timer system. Did a search but the results were inconclusive. Help plz!

What's my best option for an alarm/turbo timer combo?
What essential feature should any decent alarm have?

Got these quotes from Kromer Radio in Toronto:

Clifford 7000 w/ turbo timer $700
Alpine SEC150 w/ DEI 528T TT $600
Backup incar siren/battery $130

Any of these 2 any good?

2 other MSPs were done there too, raise your hands please if you're on this board. I know dpmmsp is one. Please let me know of what you chose, cost, and your experience with them so far.

Many thanks.

get the compustar 2 way alarm w/tt. it cost me $530.00 installed. it's awesome!!:D

That's a great price Phantom.
Could you tell me which model you got exactly? I checked on compustar's website but didn't see anything mentioned about a turbo timer feature built-in. Was it a separate TT for you?

Anyone knows of a dealer in Toronto that carry compustar?
Kromer doesn't unfortunately.

i am a car audio installer and at my shop we sell clifford. Clifford recently got bought out by a company know as DEI (aka Viper) so clifford really does not exist and probably will soon be no more, and in all honesty we warranty more clifford parts than anything else soooo IMO clifford would be my last resort.

on my msp i opted for the viper 2 way system with the LCD remote, lets you know the status of the car if its unlocked/locked has a built in pager so it beeps and vibrates when the alarm is set off and includes remote start. the alarm has a range of almost 2miles and has not given me or any of our customers problems

as for alpine alarms (piss) they totaly suck! reasons being that they have absolutey NO RANGE but they do have a cool sounding chirp on the siren

and as a installer my view on the back up batteries is sure they work if someone disconnects the battery and will still "protect" your car from being stolen but honestly the first thing a theif is gonig to do is rip out the siren or cut the wires going to it. the back up battery will still flash the lights till the theif finds the brain or the battery so IMO waste of $ if they want the car or stuff inside it they will get it

drop me a PM if you want more info or help

arkitek: I am not exactly sure about the model #, but I can look at the manual tonite. It's a color (the car in the control) LCD 2way alarm with built in turbo timer.

I'd got the 16" p5 rims for $250.00 cdn with stock rubber WHOLE SET!!!!! USED!!!!! they're like new! (not the tires though, but I don't need them anyways.)

I found a compustar 2000 as for sale....wtf is this? I can't find it on the web page. Apparanty it's new, and is the remote and alarm version of it.

never mind. It's got everything the wss has but no TT, or vibrate feature on the pager

this guy is selling this, and is telling me that it is possible to add a turbo timer option to it afterwards?

it's the Compustar 2000 AS?

true? Anyone know what's involoved and how much? I got 2 days to decide.

Basically, from what i've been told, all they do is bypass the ignition for a set amount of time(not adjustable like with an actual TT). When that set amount of time is reached, THEN the shock sensor sets itself. That's why I decided to get an alarm installed at the shop I get my parts from, and they'll hook up my TT at the same time.

neutral safety on orangemsp's car

orangemsp, how did you wire the neutral safety switch wire? dont want the msp leaving without me :)

I just had a Viper 791XV installed in my P5 on tuesday. It has 2-way security, remote starting, turbo cooling mode, along with mony other features. Mine has the 5-speed and it is impossible to start the engine, while in gear. It is sweet. Paid a lot for it but it is worth it.
