New 5 in the MD snow

2010 Mazda5 Grand Touring
Greetings, I joined the forum shortly after purchasing our 2010 Grand Touring. I used the site for my research. Thanks to everyone's posts for helping make the decision. My wife is due in the next few days with our second daughter and we needed something with more space for me (6'2) and the two car seats.

Mod's have started with the windows; 15% in back and 30% on the front and some interior additions. I want to do a shark fin antenna since the snow has bent the original. Must remember to remove it before the next 38 inch storm I guess. Not sure if the fin is available for the 2010 model or not.

Thought I would post some shots of it with the record Maryland snow we've been receiving. It looks much better cleaned off than sitting there looking like a marshmallow.

Here in MN we have snow on the ground all winter and so my 2010 5 sport (MT) has already had lots of experience on the snow. I have to say, when it was brand new it seemed like the OEM tires were terrible in the snow, but as they scrubbed in and as I've gotten used to the car I'm finding them pretty good - not nearly as good as snow tires and not comparable to the best all-seasons, but with nearly 3k miles of continuous snow-driving on ours (we bought it in December) I'm learning to appreciate how well it does in the snow. So take it easy and carefully (esp. since I'm guessing Marylanders aren't used to driving in it) but the 5 isn't bad in the white stuff.

Looks good, btw! I was born in Maryland and remember that at least up on our end of the state (Hagerstown) we got real snow in the winters, hope those piles aren't too discouraging!

Thanks - Sony a300 using Aperture on the Mac.

Here's the other shot that broke for whatever reason (noob).

DSLR camera for the win!

(Dont mention the mac using part as they arent allowed to buy mazdas per Steve Jobs)

Snow has been a non-issue on my stock car here (5) in Chicago. Then again I drove a RWD pickup truck (07 GMC Sierra) for 2 years and had no problems with that either. Id like snow tires but cant justify it with a Subaru in the garage.

Nice 5! What colour is that?

Also, you said you have car seats. Are they rear facing? If so, how do you find the room (i.e. do you have the move up the passenger seat?)? Any pics?

The color is liquid silver.

No pics of the new seating setup yet. Our 3 1/2 year old is in a big Britax forward facing. She is on the passenger side. Usually the passenger seat is pushed up as far as it can go to give her more room in the back. I added a seat protector from Amazon because she likes to kick. The third row is folded down as it is next to impossible to get back there with the two seats in place.

The baby just came today! 8lbs-6oz little girl.

Lol my 4 year old has been kicking my wife's 5 (tan interior) and I told her this summer she gets to clean it...she asks me if Im kidding and I keep telling her No, youre going to clean it. Luckily my son is only 2 and his legs are way too short to kick the seat.
