NEMOC Random BS Thread

Great day yesterday, colder today and cloudy. Time for some indoor stuff.

looks like snow for New England soon?? Just in time for TGiving??

Made it out kayaking yesterday. Went to work on the rv suspension. It has Hellwig helper springs that according to some posts in the Jayco forum are not tightened enough to provide extra support. They sit on top on the axles as extra leafs. The leaf ends are attached to the main leaf suspension with large square ubolts. You tighten or loosen the ubolts depending on how much extra lift or load capacity you want. There are 4 ubolts, 2 for each side, front and back. The rears were easy to adjust with a 1/2 ratchet drive and a deep socket. The leading edge or front are longer and the deep socket only went so far. The nuts were 22 mm and my largest ratcheting wrench was 21mm. So it was a slow slog, lying on my back and resting my arms. Took a while but finished all 4 in a couple of hours.

Won't be moving the rig for another month so won't know if it will have any impact on the ride but the rear is an inch higher and the rig doesn't sway much in the wind.

Nice Bruce! Even if the ride isn't impacted, the reduced swaying will be nice.

We are supposed to get 4-8" of snow in the LV tomorrow! Wish I would have had the time to put our Christmas decorations out last weekend. Was going to do it Black Friday but not sure how well that will go if there's a half foot of snow on the ground. Guess I could skip this year and save money on the electric bill. :)

I got a clean bill of health from the skin doctor yesterday. Tam insisted I go and made the appt as well as the ramifications if I skipped it or cancelled it. lol Today I'm leaving work early to take our son to the doctor. Have been shopping for a gaming pc for him for Christmas as well. Anyone here use/know of Cyberpower or iBuyPower? I've been seeing a lot of their product on Newegg and Tiger Direct but not familiar with them. Don't need anything fancy, just something for him to record his Xbox gamplay from his PVR to that will allow him to edit and add commentary.

How much did you get Jeff? I guess New England is getting it today and tomorrow?

My Nexus 4 updated to Android 5 last night. Curious to see what's different.

+1 stay safe and drive carefully everyone.

Yoga this morning, kayaking after lunch and then washed the car. I'm beat.

Hello!!!! How was everyone's turkey day? Pretty good here. Worked the buffet service at the Country Club but it was easier than I anticipated. Now to see how much extra loot is in my check this week for gratuity. Wish they'd give us cash instead though, I'll lose most of it to good ol' Uncle Sam. Thanksgiving Eve I shoveled about 4" of the white stuff which also hampered me putting out the Christmas lights over the weekend. I did that yesterday afternoon with Tamz help and we finished up just before the rain started. They are calling for a wintry mix for the evening commute tonight.

For any PC geeks out there I finally broke down and bought a gaming PC for the boy child. Shopped online all weekend for pre-built machines and even built different ones on Cyberpowerpc and iBuypowerpc sites. At the end of the day though, I figured it was better that I just order the components and get my hands dirty, as they say. lol Here's his machine as I built from pcpartpicker.com http://pcpartpicker.com/user/dadgonemad/saved/R86KHx Total cost for everything after $35 mail-in rebates and using some Discover credit through Amazon the total was $650. This includes a couple of 120mm blue LED fans and a sleeved blue LED kit from NZXT for the case. I was going to spend that much for a machine I built on the other sites but with a slower processor and half the RAM. Could have saved around $150 and bought a pre-built but this way I can always expand later if/when needed. All this because he wanted a Blue Snowball mic to record and then mix audio with his gameplay. The mic ran us $40 on Amazon on a really sweet deal. (unamused)

And there Bruce is my lowering suspension for the Miata. haha

Very nice jeff!!

I might need to pick up some wintah tiyahs for the 3. It performed about the best it could in the snow last week, but anything more severe, I'd be screwed. The low rolling resistance tires they put on as OEMs are just..... awful lol.

well jeff, thanks for showing me that site for when i decide to finally build up a gaming pc. all i need though is a place to put what i build. no desk currently

Hi all, turkey day was great! Having issues with my truck [emoji13]. Stumble and all around lousy acceleration. The plugs probably need changing but they supposedly break off in the head so off to the shop it goes[emoji107]

Hey everybody!!! Some good news, our daughter was accepted into the speech program at ESU!!!!! :) She is very excited. ESU is only a half hour away (around the corner from Mike) so I'm trying to sway both the girls for her to commute so I can save some money. Hoping some more letters will be coming in soon, she's applied to IUP (no go as SATs weren't good enough and they showed no interest in communicating with her), Bloomsburg, Penn State and Long Island University. Good God, I hope she doesn't go there...I have no desire to drive back to Brooklyn.

Very nice jeff!!

Thanks! Case came in yesterday and it's freaking awesome. Told the wife that I might just keep it for myself when it's built. lol

What snow tire choices are you considering? I prefer the more aggressive studdable over performance. What tires come OEM on the new 3? The wife's came with Turanzas and they've been ok for three season driving. On their last legs though and will be replaced before the Spring. Wet traction at 4/32nds is pretty much gone.

You are welcome. Once I get the build finished I'll post up some pics.

Jeff, Jeff, where did your mother and I go wrong!!(hand)

(rlaugh) What can I say, we like to spoil the kiddos.

That is good Mark! Well damn that sucks. That's what you get for going Domestic. :p GL with the repairs. I'm actually taking the Miata to the dealer next Friday for an oil change. Got a coupon in the mail for a $19.99 oil change. I can' buy it cheaper than that and I don't have to do it in the cold....win-win! :)

Mark, hope the stumble is nothing serious. Is there history with them breaking??

Mary and I went to see the USS Alabama and USS Drum today. Can't imagine what the people must have been through back in WWII.

I'm acquainted through racing with a couple guys who were gunner's mates up in the "top floor" (with the radar tracking equipment) of those 16" turrets. They've said the noise & concussion from them firing is as indescribable as a shuttle or other big rocket launch.

...and apparently being in the turret was the quietest part of the ship to be in during live fire.

mornin, got the truck fixed up, runs great now...so they used an impact wrench and "blam" all 8 plugs flew out! they do have a history of breaking because of the design and the carbon build up that cements them in place after 100k miles! anyway, runs like a champ with new plugs....getting ready for the holidays, family coming to visit for a week, taking the grandkids to edaville it's a local family park with a train ride thru the cranberry bogs of carver /http://www.edaville.com/ polar express and thomas the train. come feb i'll be a single man for 4 months. robin is off to take care of our grand baby in NC. i'll be going down once or twice a month for some long weekends, it's a quick 2 hr flight. while being single i'll be spending some time with my other girl in the garage!

Glad it worked out Mark, I would've been concerned about watching a mechanic using an impact gun for plugs.

Let me know when you are going down. We will be in Myrtle Beach from roughly end of March to the beginning of April. Maybe we can meet up somewhere.

For those not on fb (the aarp crew), it is with deep disappointment that we inform you that Mazda may no longer be funding our corrals. They are looking to go in a new direction. With that being said, MOCO will NOT be hosting a corral at Sebring. We are looking into hopefully still hosting a corral at LRP in July this year, but no food, no tent, back to basics ... just like we started. As always, we'll keep you posted!

Oh, and while I'm here, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all!!! Miss you meeps!!

that would be great...we'll see what the schedule brings...

this is very disappointing (notcool)...i was so looking forward to sebring, had it all planned out with some other visits and the like. what do you think it would take to do our own corral at LRP? i think the tent is an important piece, we could rent one? the food we could all bring and cook ourselves...count me in to help!

Lime Rock will be a go, we will not let lack of funding stop us from holding out 9th Annual Tradition, a Mazda wil not be at Lime Rock or VIR. Jamie of James Barone Racing and CJWR will assist with some funding and I will be working with the track as well to see what we can work out.

We are not giving up and one of my ideas isto see if IMSA will let us host a "Tuners Corral", with cars that are in the series, but does not have a designated corral per se. We feel it is there loss (Mazda), as they truly do not understand what our membership brings to the table.......we will keep you informed as to where we end up going.
