N numbnuts22715 Member : 2008 Mazdaspeed 3 GT Sep 18, 2007 #2 Im pretty sure it will throw a code, either for a bad o2 sensor or an insufficient catalyst system. If you get an aftermarket exhaust and downpipe, I'm pretty sure some of them come with a fix for it.

S SharkDiver Member : Speed3 Sep 18, 2007 #4 you can remove the 2nd cat and have no problems but there is a O2 sensor after the 1st cat so it will throw a code if you remove it.
