Need to know asap, will +40 offset fit a non-lowered pro5?

I'm going to be picking up a 17x7, 205/40/17 set of wheels. Only issue is it is +40 offset. Need some feedback on whether this will rub or not or if it is a good choice. Should I up the size to 205/45/17? Thanks all.

On stock suspension, there shouldn't be any rubbing. Even if you were lowered a good amount, there would be minimal rubbing issues.

Thank you so much for the direct answer. Looks like I may be able to sport some new wheels soon!

Just curious though, what if I go with a higher aspect? like 45 or 50?

The lower the offset, the more "poke" your wheels have (the farther they stick out). I am lowered over 2" from where your ride height would be, and I essentially have a +40 offset as well. I am running a little bit of neg. camber and have my fenders rolled to avoid the rubbing, but with a stock ride height, there shouldn't be any issues.

If there are, there are easy options to offset the rubbing. You can get camber bolts (They run anywhere from $15-$35) that a tire shop can install for you that will take care of any rubbing. You can install them yourself, too. But you will be sorta guessing on the exact camber that you're dialing in. The tire shop can use them to adjust your camber while measuring it with their laser systems.

What tire size were you running?

I have 215/45/17. I'm going to up it to 225/40/17 in the front, here shortly. Front has more clearance than the back on these cars tho...

i'm running the 17" mazdaspeed miata racing harts on my 2000 protege sedan with 205/40/17 tires, and have no rubbing issues, even after installing the tokico hd/eibach pro-kit combo. iirc, the racing harts are 17x7 with a +40 offset too, so you shouldn't have any problems. my only issue is that the ride is a bit stiff, but nothing i can't get used too. next time though, i might just get 205/45/17's or 215/45/17's for a softer ride. someone on this forum is running 205/50's on his 17's, and that might be another option for you.

Yeah, I'd love to search it up but the search engines don't seem to understand my query when I put numbers and slashes on there...

Hmm, yeah this car is my DD and I want it to be as comfortable as can be. If I can fit 50's on there than great, but 45 I think is still better than the 40's, comfortwise. How far off OEM specs is it though if I choose 50? Actually... i'll (google) a calculator. Thanks for the help guys.

50's are freaking tall... I wouldn't go above a 45 on a 17" rim. my .02

Yeah I just did the calculator on 1010tires and 205/50/17 has a 5.5% difference from stock. I'm going with the 205/45/17's.
