Need some techno music...

for the record...

everything you guys have listed isn't "techno".

its trance, drum and bass, or breakbeat.

<--techno snob. dj. electronic music afficianado.

right, it's not techno, it's a type of electronic music, but most people who don't listen to this stuff every day would consider it techno because it's "all the same" to them. techno, trance, dance, house, dnb, jungle is all different and can be distinctly set apart from each other. most of the stuff you all are listing is trance, like darude.... tiesto mainly dj's trance, oakenfold is mainly trance.

Oh I recommend all 7 of the DJ Tiesto - Magik sets. They are truely awesome. Also DJ Tiesto's new 2cd set is great. Ok... to put it this way... get anything Tiesto, he's awesome. Another DJ I recommend is DJ Doughboy. He releases his sets for free so he's not illegal to download. BT is awesome. Carl Cox is great. ATB too. There's so much stuff out there. Like everyone else, I recommend checking out Digitally Imported even tho their bcast is 96kbps. You can make your own playlist and download the songs that you want and make some cool mix cd's.

Unfortunately I haven't been keeping up with the new trance singles which is what I need to start doing.

this is an old live set of mine. its "techno", most specifically "minimal techno, techouse, and microhouse".

give it a listen, if you dare...

i have a few ltj bukem live sets, if you're interested.

and have you ever checked out other stuff on his record label, "good looking organization"? makoto and cedar are absolutely ******* amazing.

i havent really delved deep into the music, i just have a couple LTJ tracks, DJ Shadow and UNKLE stuff. I would really like some more but i dont have alot of time to just chill and check out new music. i wish i did. ill drop those names and take a listen.

i can rock a long list of s*** off if you give me a style you're looking for.

i'm assuming you like the breakbeat / abstract stuff, judging by the three you just mentioned.

if ya still aren't sure what ya like.. check out http://www.ishkur.com/features/music/

pretty neat flash of diff types and samples as well.

looks like i'm one of the "mctrance" fans.. lol.. "epic trance" or even "super saw mega trance" lol. what a name!(i get the feeling this guy doesn't like trance)

imo epic trance is pretty good to the brain :)

www.paxahau.com

not only do they have a huge archive of detroit techno / house / ambient shows over the last seven years or so, but if you tune in to their net radio during the day, its an all ambient stream, all the time.

wow, this thread really took off, thanks guys.

Yes, I admit Im a "Techno" n00b, so I call all of this stuff you speak of "Techno"

Im checking out yur link, Niv, it looks good.
The best way i can describe what im looking for is something kind of rocky with a driving beat that either makes you wanna rock your head, pump your fist, or bounce up and down in your seat while driving (rockon)

its the same thing when people refer to punk, alternative, indie, emo, metal, progressive etc. as " rock music "

its all the same thing, just has different catergories, your still using the same instruments to produce the music. with electronica your using the same damn " instruments " and thats why the majority call it the same thing; " techno ".

it pisses me off when people call punk music, rock music. or my favorite band tool, gothic music. people just dont know any better, and could give a rats ass to care.

i suggest shoutcast to find your favorite type of electronica. tons of selections and catergories.

ok, i listened a bit to shoutcast, and where it said the genres(cuz not every track gave an artist or song title) the one si like sbest were...

Hard Trance Techno
Techno Trance Hardsty(whatever that means???)
Trance Progressive Techno

guess I'll just keep listening to whatever i like. I like crystal method cuz they have real drums and guitars, but also employ the "electronica" type stuff...so maybe I really dont like "techno" per se...(shrug) i dunno...its so hard to find good music these days when theres SOOO much out there.

for sure check out that ishkur site then.. you can just go listen to samples and see what you like.. then you'll know what classification you do like.

after reading that site i see i'm not that fond of what the l337 and snobs call "techno" per se. hehe.

Poop, the guy won't let me direct link.

lemme find a different link

Well, I can't find it but currently im liking Ian Van Dahl's music.

I'm a big fan of Roni Size. Hes got some tracks out there with method man, and zack de la rocha. Lots more lyrics than your typical house music.

I also like some Liquid Child. I had a roommate that spun house, hardhouse, d+B and did some break beat. He got me hooked on a couple things. (no not meth)
