Need some help with 2002 Protege Auto

no reason to suspect an o2 failure from a lean code. EGR is technically both an intake and an exhaust component... but again. no real reason to suspect it specifically.

Get a new boyfriend, or find a real mechanic and pay him.

Yeah, I'll tell my husband of almost 15 years I'm getting a new boyfriend. I'm sure he will appreciate that. LOL Thanks for the input guys.

update still need help

hello this is the hubby turnin the bolts. i tightened the belts ( they were very loose, thought that may have something to do with it). now the car runs even worse.all i did was tighten the belts, and disconected the battery while doing so, cause the bookk said so.
im stumped, ready to fix this car with a realy big hammer lol
is it possible that the timing could be off. initialy when the new belts went on the battery went lowand would not turn it around and it may have went backwards due to compression a bit. dont know just a thought. tired of throwing parts at it

come to find out it was a "COMMON PROBLEM" according to the dealer. problem is fixed. the air intake hose from the air box to the plenum was dry rotted on the bottom. it was getting to much air.
thankyou to all that have tried to help me and the wife.

It is still idling a little rough. Check engine light had stayed off, but came on this morning on the way to work. At this point just glad it is running and drivable. Thanks again guys for all of your input.
