Ok here is the deal, I just bought my p5 about two weeks ago and I am looking to modify it. The fist thing I was going to do was lower it some. I called mazda to see about the warranty on it, and they said that I can lower it if i use only Mazda parts. The salesman sent me a brochure with some mods and their were lowering springs from eibach the same ones I was going to order except I know they are gonna charge me an arm and a leg for them. So with that in mind I wanted to see if anyone else has any info on the warranty regulations. I wanted to add a carbon fiber hood, intake and exhaust also. So are all of you on this board that are adding mods to your p5's just ignoring the warranty or is there something I dont know about.
please let me know thanx fellas!

reguarding mods and warranty, a dealer can only void your warranty IF they can prove the mod caused the problem to begin with. like they can't say your lowering springs caused your spark plugs to misfire...and they can't say your malfunctioning ABS was caused by your exhaust. just keep in mind that your mods may cause problems with your dealer...but they cant void your warranty unless they can prove the mod caused it. there are regulations viewable on the web...but i dont have the link. someone else here will have to post it.

kepOne is right, the dealer can only void the warranty if they prove the mod cause the failure. After working for a dealer, mazda and chrysler, I've found that some service managers are more apt to take things into consideration than others. Generally however you'll find it difficult sometimes to get your dealer to comply just becuase they usually feel that modded cars are done without the regards to quality or how the car is supposed to orginally perform certain functions. I say go for it though, a little battle with the dealer is fun sometimes.
