I need your opinions asap. I had my winter tires changed over and the shop scratched the sh!t out of my rims. They gave me three options. I can have the factory rims refinished, I can get American Racing Type SR 17x7 with 42mm offset silver rims of unknown weight http://www.americanracing.com/wheel...alloy, silver painted, clear coated&section=P

or I can get Montegi FF5 17x7 42mm offset rims in either silver, gun metal or hyperblack that weigh 21 lbs a peice http://www.motegiracing.com/wheels/details.asp?wheelid=27&name=FF5 Silver&style=2353&desc=&section=

I know they're on the heavy side, but I'm leaning towards the Montegi's in gunmetal.

ps. I have a midnight blue mica pro5 with tinted windows and red calipers.

Those are the only two rims I'm being allowed to choose from. Is it possible to get some sort of spacer to create the proper offset? And if so, how does that effect the integrity of the rim/suspension?

so wait, they scratched the stock rims on you Protege5 and their giving you these? damn dood! i would consider that lucky....

take the motegis.. worst comes to worst.. u can sell the on ebay if they dont fit.. an put that money towards a diff rim.. now that i think about it a 42 may fit.. for some reason i was thinkin you said 18.. not 17.. whats the width? 17x7?

those american racing rims are nice tho.. i like the polished lip.. -=) very very snazzy..dark rims will look better on your blue car tho..

For them it is a better deal to give me the new rims. The shop told me to have the stock rims refinished is $125 a piece, plus shipping plus they would have to give me a rental car for three days to have the work done. Easily $600 for everything. The American Racing I beleived listed for $149 a peice and the Montegi's listed for $163 a peice. I figure their cost for the rims must be in the $120-$135 range. So it only costs them max $540 to give me the new rims. Plus then I would have to buy 4 new tires (going from 16's to 17's) and even though they said they would sell them to me at cost it will still set me back around $400.

Does anyone have pictures of a blue or black p5 with gunmetal rims and/or white rims? The wife thinks the gunmetal is too dark and says I should get white instead.

eww! don't get white! Tell the wife she is tripping! get the gun metal!

Don't get the whites. they would look good on a lazer blue, but I don't think they'd be too hot on a midnight blue. IMO

If you wanna be safe why not just go for the silver ones?
