Ok so I'm coming close to hitting 24k on my car and my brakes are squeeling, on my last oil changed the dealership said my rear brakes need to be replaced soon. I was wondering anyone who has had their brakes changed, which pads would be good, I've heard good things about the hawks, but was wondering if their is anything better that is in the same price range. Thanks to anyone who helps!

i thought that the front pads wear faster than the rears on the speed3s.
i just changed my front pads last night at 51k kms; it wasnt that difficult. I chose hawk hps for the fronts.
are you sure it's the rears need changing? i would double check; take the tires off one side of the car one at a time and see which one is need of changing.

good luck

This is my second mazda3, first speed however and the rears have been first on both. I think it has a lot to do with parking brake adjustment and if you use it a lot or not... Who knows. Do you get a lot of brake dust on your rear wheels? that is a good sign your rear brakes need adjusting.

That's also what I thought, but thats what Fairfax Browns mazda is telling me. They are trying to tell me that the way these cars are made the rear brakes wear faster, I thought that was total bs and when I checked the brakes it looks like the front are fine but the rear looked worn. They told me it was my rear my last two visits to the dealer so I'm confussed

my rear pads were gone in half the time my fronts got replaced....get something ceramic...less dust and last longer

^^^ Agreed, i would check them myself. if you have the tools, go and have a look.

Most likely if it's already starting to squeal, you're also wearing your rotors too. when i changed my front pads last night, my rotors were still fat; i dont track the car and drive mostly highway.

good luck

the rear brakes on these cars are thin, the fronts are very thick when new....rear brakes on these cars always go first. Rear brakes on these cars are usually needed by 28k miles with hard braking to about 40k miles easy braking.

Fronts are easily good to 50k, unless you torch them and the rotors get out of round and cause a vibration when braking.

Well thats fine with me cuz the rear brakes are cheaper. So any input on the rear brakes I should get, I keep hearing good things about the hps hawks, but is there anything else out there or are these the best. Thanks for all the help!

nope rear first....i just went to the loacl auto parts store and got a good set of ceramics and that was years ago that i did and like 80k for the rear and 60k for the front and they are still over 50% left so.....and i'm hell on brakes....just don't get the cheap s*** and they'll last

ceramics don't leave as much dust on the wheels too....i like that
