Ok so I posted a few weeks ago about a died while driving and no restart. Any ways the car has a warrenty and when I pulled the valve cover the timing belt was slacking between the cams on compression stroke.

So that was within the warranty. And they tried to rock me over on it, long story short we compromisd and met in the midddle on the bill. Well it gets done and still no start.

They tell me a bent valve and there is no compression on all cylinders. I know that Mazda has stated it's a non intereference motor so that's unlikely. And if a valve was bent it wouldn't throw zero compression on all cylinders.

What would cause no compression on all cylinders. Can't be a cracked head or sleeve, a head gasket would still show some compression, im just at a full lose and a absolutely zero compression across all cylinders.

The motor IS interference I don't care what anything you read or what people tell you. If its under warranty there should be no meeting in the middle they legally have to cover it

Well if it is an interference motor what are the odds of a bent valve in every cylinder? The warranty is an "aftermarket" warranty and stated that they cover the belt but not the tentioner idler pulley or spring. And the shop wont do the work unless it's they are replaced as well. Well Monday they are calling the warranty company to see how to handle this. The whole cylinder head is covered so well see, but I'm not forking out more than I already am.

Shop is a rip off and wanted dealership prices. I just don't forsee it having 4 bent valves.

The only way I can imagine having a bent valve in every cylinder is if the cam shafts were to lag behind so far due to the slack belt that every piston collided with the valves.

I don't know if that's possible but it's all I can think of ???

It wouldn't have ran if it was that far out, btw tensioner, spring, and idler is cheap. It's the labor that's expensive

Edit: and the labor should be covered with the warranty

They wanted me to pay for the tentioner, idler pulley, and spring, which came out to 200 out of my pocket. The warranty covered only the belt such was 70, so total the kit was 270 in parts. Labor was 3 hrs to do the belt and another 2 hrs to install the tentioner, idler, and spring. The warranty company wouldn't even pay the last hr on the job to time the thing only the time to put the belt on.

I dont know if it's the warranty or the shop but this job they made so much more complex and expensive. After the warranty they wanted $580 out of me, out of the 800 plus bill. Told him I could have it done for half that.

Got 4 quotes from shops within a 2 mile radius and what do you know 395-450 for the whole job. Im just in damage control mode trying to put out as little as possible, and they did lower my costs. But now their is other issues. The head is covered and I WILL NOT pay anymore than I already said I would, it's all on the warranty from here.

It takes 10-20 minutes to do the idler and tensioner. There is no way in hell it took them 2 hours, that is total bulls***. Personally I'd be calling a lawer or telling them to show you how it took 2 hours before you pay them

^What he said,... It only took me about 15 minutes to install the two pulleys,... and I spent most of that time smoking and drinking. (and I took three days to do the T-Belt)
