I have a stock 2008 MS3 GT and I need some help.
1) Car is sitting in my garage, locked...and all of sudden the car alarm started going off by itself. I disarm it with 'unlock' on my key fob.
2) 15 minutes later it starts going off again! (bang) This time the key fob doesn't disarm it immediately, turning the key in the door to unlock doesn't disarm it. Eventually the fob disarm works.
3) I now know that something is wrong, so I work to disconnect the battery (I live in a quiet complex and can't deal with this at 9pm at night). It probably went off another two times while I was under the hood.
4) One catch: Yesterday I went hiking and I forgot I had my key fob in pocket, so it got submerged multiple times in salt water. Everything worked fine though after my hike.
******
Is it possible my key fob is acting up (panic button) after being in salt water?
What should I check? I can disconnect my fob battery tomorrow, reconnect my car battery and see if it happens again, but that doesn't immediately prove to me that the fob was the source of the the problem.
Any help much much appreciated! Thanks.
