Need help,

First thing, where is the stock horn located? When I honk the horn I hear the sound coming from the fender or bumber by the driver side but when I open up the hood I can't see it. Can I just take out the stock horns and plug the hellas? Do I need to install a relay for it? I've never installed a horn in my life. Can someone help me with a step by step procedure on installing one? The stock horn does no good, you can hardly hear it especially when your on the fereeway.

One more thing, will this affect the warranty of the car if I change the stock horns? just a thought? Thanks for all your help!!!!

The stock horn is inside the front left fender, you can't see it. To access it you have to remove the screws from the cover on the left front corner and bend the plastic down. This is much easier if the car is up on ramps, but could be done on the ground. You will see the horn up above where the fog lights go. You won't need a relay for Hella horns, but you will have to figure out how to mount them to the bracket, and make some wiring to put the current to two horns because the stock one is a single.

Hey Rotus8,

Thanks so much for the info and for your reply, I'll take a look at it now and figure out the wiring later. Thanks again for your help bro!!!!

Which hella horns are you installing? Are they the Hella supertones? If they're not trumpet style horns then you'll probably want to install them behind the grill.

They are the red dual hella supertones. yeah I put them behind the grill already and I was able to find the stock horns, my problem now is how do I do the wirings? I wired up both hellas and connected it to one wire and connected the wire to the existing stock horn wire. The horns did not work, all I heard were clicking sounds. Do I need to ground something? Are my wires correct?. I need help please!!!!!

Thanks,

It's a little hard to tell if your wires are correct because you didn't describe them. You will find each of the new horns has two contacts (I think they are labeled + and - but not sure). Anyway each horn needs one contact grounded and the other contacte connected to the original wire. You need two grounds, and a Y connction to the original wire.

Good luck, you'll get it.

Rotus8,

Thanks again for your help. I made a Y connector but I connected it to silver contact and the other to the gold contact of the horn. I guess silver is negative and gold is positive. I guess the silver is for the ground and the gold is for the wiring that connects to the stock horn wiring. I'll try this tom. got to go to work. Thanks a bunch Rotus8, your a big help.
