Need help for suspension P5

Air ride never works well for track setups. It's way too heavy and complicated, and the spring rates you get with air are rediculously progressive. Yes, it is possible in certain cases to out perform traditional springs with air ride, but it is not the norm. Certainly not for track setups. I've been in a few cars with air ride and I wouldn't even think of recommending it to someone.

I've had tien s techs and stock shocks for 30k miles. For a street/autoX setup I can't really complain. Its a little too soft in the back for autoX and a little too stiff all around for the street, but thats too be expected with a dual purpose car. If you want a track-only setup you'll have to go with coilovers and adjustable shocks.

NOT TRUE with the P5, the air ride is better than any coilover set up you can get. Im sure there are air set ups in other cars that are horrible, it all depends on the combination and what you use. If you have riddin in air ride set ups that are custom (then the ride sucks) compared to setups that are made for vehicle specific rides. Like blackandbluepro said, DO SOME Research before you spend alot of money for something you regret getting, when you could of spent a few hundred more and get an air ride setup for your P5. Ask around your area and see if there is someone with this setup and take ride.

Have you actually been on a track with your air ride setup? Better yet, I'll drive up to michigan to one of your local autocrosses and we'll have a local hotshoe drive both of our cars. If your car is faster we can contend that your air setup is far superior to my simple coil spring.

What's your effective spring rate at your "racing" ride height? Would this be affected by ambient temperature? Can you keep your corner weights consitant? How about your alignment? I'm not trying to be an ass, I'm just curious.

No I have never been on a track, nor do I plan on it. I have just done my research on the air set ups. Mine is just strickly for show purposes only. The coner weights are all done by the digital system, keeps them all on where you specify them. As for alignments, It should be done once a year (just the front) because of me being switch happy. It only cost 30bucks anyway.

I have the traditional set up; tanabe GF springs and stock struts and the car handles amazingly well. However, I have seen set ups where the air ride suspension actually out-performed the traditional set up. Anyway, that is from my experience, my research, and the research and experimentation of others.

So, even though you've never used your setup on track you recommend your show only setup for lapping days? Please direct me to your research that shows when an air setup is superior for the track.

I have em on my car and love them. PM Rishie, I believe his username is autornd. That's his company, great guys to work with!

Hi there,

It's me Rishie. PM me about your suspension dilemas. I've done it all on my old P5 and can walk thru all your suspension options. We did autox our P5 and roadrace it when the opps arose.

email: sales@autornd.com

Espelirs are super awesome and quite unique compared to what else is offerred for the P5.

Let me know,

Rishie

Well, here is one,its not a P5, but the same basic system I have, just a little better.

And by comp. test I mean that I have been in P5's with coil over set ups and just lowering springs, and by far the air ride had a much better ride quality for street and I can make it stiffer than their ride when switched to track mode.

Just dont go with the FBSS system it does not come with the same adjustable struts as easystreet.

For the low low price of $3,400...

Air ride sucks ass for anything but show cars, get over it.

Just did my research on the web for the same setup, and found it cheaper, so they said they would match their price. Thats why I got it cheaper.

Thanks everyone ! I will certainly go with the Espelirs coils & the Tokico illumina struts. (thumb)
