Mazda protege, LX 2.0
engine check light was on since Chrismax, and i took to dealer and they figure out it's EGR Valve Passages is fail to close. So i have mazda dealer to order the parts for me, and i already replace the EGR Valve Passages. However, since i took the car back, my engine still have same situation before i took in to fix. Like, when i drive my car, shortly i feel my car has no power at all and make some sound like engine is blow off. Also, when that happen, the car is shake really hard. Additional, when you push down the gas, car won't listen to you. Therefore, i took back to dealer, and they told me some thing bulls***. They said "it's my air-intake cause my car has problem, so want me to replace back to factory system!" And I know i this time the problem is kinda different, because when i first install my intake, my intake hose touch to my the brake fluid of container. So i will make my gas panel and brake panel shake. However, i adjust my intake hose today, but when i drive today, the engine light is on again, and i feel it is the EGR Valve Passages fail to close again. Because it just immediately has no power, make some sound like engine is blow off and car is shake really hard! So anyone can help me? I have this car about 3 years, but i feel just want to sell this car now, because too many problem with it. So what do you guys suggest? Thanks!

there is a little torque helper thing on the left side of the stock manifold that is "supposed" to help with the torque when going up mountains and stuff..or so i was told. I used a paper clip to keep it on open at all times so that i would not lose torque since this limited the amount of power i was getting or something ... but yea maybe you could try putting that on open?

if not, you could always get the new Protege Garage intake manifold which does'nt use all the dumb factory things mazda put on and then just run without the egr tube...although you'll still pull up a check engine light then , but you wont have to worry about problems with power on the car anymore. and it's a direct bolt-on

Sorry i'm kinda new for car, can you explain more clearly and tell me how to do it please! Or can you show me some picture?
By the way, i went back to Mazda dealer becasue of engine light back again and i was worry. Once i replace the EGR Valve Passages already, Mazda dealer told me it is because my intake cause the engine light on again, and they recommand me to replace back to stock. Do anyone think i should replace back to stock? Anyone and explain and tell me what to do please? I'm sick of this car because of problems occur so oftenly! Thanks

what is aftermarket on the engine right now? like jsut cai ? Ill try to get some pictures up of what i'm talking about. I would'nt go back to stock...that's like them just quitting because they dont know what the real problem is. if something was still wrong after you went back to stock they would still blame it on you.

it almost sounds like a MAF sensor. get the code scanned. then theres a EGR valve on ebay right now for like 13 bux. im not 100%, but 70% sure it will fit the 2.0L also.

I have AEM short air-intake in my engine now, other than that i have nothing modify yet! By the way, i just went back to dealer again to see the problem due to has engine check light back. And technician tell me it is because my air-intake cause the problem so want me put the stock intake back. Also, because i go back to check the problem few times, so they show me that the computer analysis and tell me because that intake, so i have bad air mixture with the fuel. And even because of bad air misture so engine would pump in more fuel, my car would not run in the fuel efficiency now! So what does everyone think about my problem? Any suggustion? Any explaination for my problem?

are you sure you installed it correctly? I dont even like short rams...get an injen intake .

Well, I don't think it has problem with my installation for short air-intake because i have my intake install about 2 years before this trouble occurs on my protege. And since i took the car back from dealer, they mention that my intake hose is not tight enough, so i replace the old one. Recently, i have no problem within 2 weeks! However, i still affaid that the engine light will be back soon or later! Then maybe i should start thinking to sale my car or replace back to my stock intake i guess. So what do you guys think?
it cud be a leak in the intake
what kind of the leak in for the intake do you think?
Thanks
