2004 Mazda3
Hey everyone. I hate being the new guy who just shows up with a question, but i'm out of options at this point. My wifes car is a 2004 Mazda 3. About two weeks ago she told me that her a/c wasn't staying cold and then the next day, it wouldn't get cold at all. The compressor would turn on and off every few seconds and when in park, sometimes the engine would bog down so much that it would turn off. I had it checked and the freon levels were fine. After a couple hours of trouble shooting we decided to change the expansion valve and drier and have the system vacuumed and recharged(a/c compressor and condenser are about six months old due to my wife having a car accident). So after the painstaking experience of changing the expansion valve (drier was easy). i went and had the system vacuumed and recharged and now the compressor and the cooling fan wont turn on AT ALL!!!! Before this, like most other cars, the cooling fan would turn on when you turned on the a/c. Now it won't turn on for any reason at all. I have triple check all my work and checked every single fuse and relay i can find (engine bay and passenger side interior). I have bypassed the coolant temp switch to try to force the fan on and nothing. I bypassed the a/c switch (the one on the line below the lo side a/c line) and nothing. My wife commutes almost 60 miles each way to work and since the mazda has been down, she has been having to drive our Chevy Tahoe that gets roughly 10 miles to a gallon. NOT GOOD!!!! I don't know what else to do. So if anyone has any idea what it could be, I could't put in to words how grateful i would be. Thanks in advance for any help at all

Still having this problem if anyone can help. Just noticed today (don't know how i missed it before), that the a/c pressure switch under the hood is not getting any power to it. Does anyone know where that power supply comes from? i already tested all a/c fuses i could find and replaced the relay. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have a wiring diagram and if I'm reading it correctly the a/c pressure switch supplies ground through the switch contacts to the ecu on pins 1AP and 1R. No detail on the
ecu so I cannot follow the internal path. Perhaps the shop manual a/c pages tell you
how to troubleshoot your problem.

I checked the shop manual for testing the a/c pressure switch. It basically requires
you to connect a a/c manifold gauge set, remove the pressure switch and check
continuity with an ohm meter. If not good replace the switch. The manual is a
good manual, it's not easy to understand.
