Just wanted some Reassurance here. I have a 2016 Mazda 3. I have 70.00.367 NA N currently. I've DM'd Candurin for updated firmware. My goal is to upgrade my system with the Android CarPlay module.

Correct me if I'm wrong. I need to update the firmware, and then install the hardware for Android carplay i purchased, correct? I don't want to miss any steps and brick my CMU.

Yes that's correct. Firmware first, then install the retrofit kit.

Well… because they’re already over 70.00.100, they can install the hardware first (unlike if they were UNDER 70.x).

Help! Anyone know if there’s another way I can get the firmware update link/file? I messaged the person on here who I was told is who I needed to reach out to, but no answer yet and it’s been a few days. I have a 2017 CX-5 and I need to update the firmware in my car. The “ghost touch” has been out of control so I bought a CarPlay adapter that I installed in my car but it needs updated firmware. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hi quick question. I have a Mazda CX-5 from 2016, and the firmware is version 56.00.513. Now I'm reading in the post this can be upgraded directly. But when I search around on the internet upgrading directly seems more of a risk than upgrading to 70.00.100A first. Anyone have any ideas on this?
Also, I've read that version 74.xx.xx has more issues with retrofit carplay/android auto, than version 70.00.xxx. Does anyone have any advice around that?

I'm going to be straight up with you. Your 2016 still has a standard DIN sized radio.
Grab a Kenwood Excelon and an iDataLink Maestro RR. It is without a doubt a HUGE upgrade. You even get full gauges right on your dash.
