Have had an issue with the control arm driver's side for a long time, on my 3rd one, none have ever actually worked the same as original. Hit a curb years ago, long story... Its never been right since, had everything on that side replaced except for the cradle itself. Thinking maybe if I just do the whole damn thing with new arms (the mount for the arm is all whacky now is another factor) that maybe it will finally fix my trouble. I'm doing the cradle swap with new arms no ifs ans or buts. However, I'm not very good at this, someone will be doing it for me, I've had a really hard time finding the parts though. All of them have been too rusty (3 I've found locally were all rusted out to the point they were literally missing chunks, not gonna work.)
I found a decent engine cradle with good looking arms on it at a local yard but it is a 2000 Protege with a different engine and an automatic. I don't know if it will fit. The price is right but if they pull it I bought it and I don't want to waste money on a part that isn't going to work for me.
Btw, mine is an 02 Protege ES with 2.0L engine, manual. 4 door sedan. The 2000 is also a 4 door sedan and looks very similar. I'm not good enough to tell whether the cradles are exactly the same or not.
Anyone out there know for sure???
