need advice on selecting a turbo

Hello guys/gals. I'm new to this forum stuff. I own a 03 mp5. rebuilding the motor from the bottom up. put forged piston/rods, coated bearings, new valves. just put a lsd in the trans. now I'm trying to find a turbo. not sure if it is better to buy a turbo kit or buy everything separately. i would like to put a turbo that can have 10-20 lbs boost. i feel the stock msp turbo is too small. any advice would be much appreciated. i understand engines but turbos are new for me. thank you.

any turbo can do 10-20lbs of boost, you should be more concerned about flowrate. Personally i'd go with a garrett gt2871 with a pope manifold and matching downpipe

What is your power goal? 200hp? 300hp?..........HP goal = Turbo size

Thank you that does help a lot. I would like to see 250- 300hp. i hope i can get that much considering it only had 130hp stock.

Very doable, My first turbo on my Protg was a Garrett GT25 and at 12lbs of boost I made 225hp to the wheels....I did have a Standalone tho.
