Need Advice Badly!

I am currently looking to get rid of my Mazdaspeed. I was wondering what the blue book value of this car is, or if anyone has sold there Mazdaspeed what kind of money did they get for it. I was going to ge an EVO and the guys at Mitsubishi said they would give me 19k for it but I would have to give them 17k more for the EVO. I'm pretty sure I can bring that 17k down some more but I just was wondering if I should just trade it in or sell it on my own.

Getting 19 for you MSP would be amazing. But pay 17 more? that doesn't add up. That would make your evo 36k. Is that just the price of living on an island of paradise?

ok, 17k + 19k = 36k, that's 10k too much, you shouldn't pay more then 28k for a evo. And you won't be able to sell your car for more then 15k. So after you sell it for 14k go and tell them to lower the price to 28k, that way there's only a 14k difference.
I wouldn't pay more then a 15k difference. Way too much, it's only quicker and 4 wheel drive, it's not like it's a more reliable car and will last you a longer time. Probably even less.

The price on the car after their mark up is 36k but I think its a give and take they give me more for my car and I gotta pay the mark up on theirs.

how much negetive equity on the speed? you have to down pay atleast half of that in order to even make a deal! trust me i know. I have a 26,000 dollar mazdaspeed!

Watch out on trade in's with the dealer becuase they will fudge the numbers completely.
You think you are getting a great deal because they are giving you $19 K for your MSP.
Like others here have pointed out, the dealer then just inflates the price of the Evo, and you take it in the hoop.
You are always better off negotiating the price of the new car before even mentioning you have a trade in. Then, if you mention you have a trade, watch the numbers carefully that the dealer comes back with.
I don't know if it's just in Hawaii now, but i thought that the Mitsu dealers were done gouging people with the mark-up? People are talking about getting Evo's for $27-28 K.
Good luck.

Ok i did my math here... If u don't get trade in you have to pay tax on selling your MSP to a private owner.. Most of the time the cash you get back from getting rid of ur MSP is lower than what the dealer will give you...

Talk to the dealer like this
he told u he'll give u 19k for it. Hold him to that. if not just walk out..

Then start taking the price of the car.. force him to give you 3000-4000 less than the msrp. once you get the price down mspr = 32 you should get like 28-29k. At this point be like oh ya so u still giving me 19 k for my trade in right... If he backs out just walk out and wait for him to call.

the key is make sure you keep trade in and price of new car seperate

I would sell your speed privately. Once it's sold, go buy the Evo. You'll likely get a better deal with a nice downpayment and no trade.

s*** you guys know what I think I just as well keep my speed and I'll go pick me up an R1 to go along with my GSXR 750!
You can do that, or you also save up another 10k and wait for the Lotus Elise to come to US and buy that one. And it's a real supercar..
I only wish I had 40k to spend on one.
