Need A Good Standalone ECU...Options?

I'm looking at the Spectre Ems-Pro from efisource. Will this work on the Msp? I'm assuming it will since its a beefed up megasquirt but I have not seen any info on anyone installing one on the msp other than the megasquirt thread. Is this pretty much the same install wise as the the megasquirt. If not, what are some other options around the same price ($400) That will get me a standalone with harness that will work with my setup?

I really hate that this split sec has held me back for so long but im ready to bump the power up and turn the boost up to 24-26psi so I gotta get a standalone that will support the power im lookin to make...also like the nitrous control! Has anyone sprayed one of these cars yet ? With a bigger turbo?

Hopefully someone has used this ems or can point me in the right direction.

 
You don't want too cheap out on tuning or bad things will happen. Just save up and get a haltech

Yea I understand that I shouldnt cheap out on the ems but its $400 with all the features I need and want ....I run a haltech on my camaro and this emspro has just as many features and is a quarter of the price... I was really just wondering if it would work on the msp wired parallel to the factory ecu with the factory sensors coils etc... dont get me wrong I do like my haltech its a great standalone but if I can get the samething for cheaper why not..besides I have a couple of friends that run a megasquirt and pull some pretty good numbers just hoping I could try it on my msp.
 
There was a member selling a older Microtech LT8 for around that price, pre wired for the MSP . Might what to check the FS section.
 
Haltech is what I use.......I highly recommend it. Check out CR3 Motorsport if you go that route
 
9.5:1 and 24+ psi with a GT30? Good Lord.

Save your money and get a Haltech. Engine management is absolutely something you should not skimp on; Haltech is proven and reliable for our cars.

Personally, I'll be getting a Platinum Sport 1000 when the time is right as it can fully control both ignition and fuel. Which, IMO is something you'd definitely want with those engine specs and boost pressure target.

Agreed, it is what I have and it was the best invesment I made! He should look into the Doc B Oil Pump Upgrade an relocation kit, too!

I know haltech is a proven ems on our car no debate there....Unfortunately ive made up my mind this isnt about being cheap I own a haltech sport 2000 and if this ems doesnt work out I will use my haltech on my protege....

Doc B Oil Pump was done years ago....

If anyone has any pointers on the megasquirt install let me know...
 
I'll be installing msII hopefully mid week next week. I'll let you know if I do and how it went. I have some minor wiring to do (soder)
 
By the way my MS II its already fully assembled I bought an AEM extension harness to do all the aplicing, etc on that as oppose to the stock harness.

Cool I just ordered mine too ....I was thinking about getting the aem harness but I dont really plan on going back once I cut the stock harness...hope its works out for you though.. I cant wait to get the full potential out of this motor ive been too content with the ssftc and its limitations 16psi is plenty powerful but this gt30 is beggin for 26psi!!!

What setup you running on your msp?
 
Nothing crazy.... Right now I'm on the stock turbo and steedspeed v2 stock replacement exhaust manifold with stock exhaust components an intake and upgraded smic. I have a mam manifold and gt28r with a 3" turbo back setup and highboost fmic pending install. This Christmas vacation Im hoping to have the fmic, 3" setup and MS II installed. I do all the work myself and will only have tops 3 hrs a day to do it so we'll see. If I didn't live in CA I would have spliced onto the stock harness but there is a food chance It might need to cone off every now and then.(smog)

Really love the features of the MS, everything you want. The downside is that you have to do more work since its open source.

Let me know if you need help, I should be able to help with settings and possibly wiring.

Ahh cali smog s*** sucks .....great thing about tx is if you live in one of the verry few counties that do emissions you can get a po box in a county close by that does the safety check only and geta sticker slapped on.....
Do you plan on keeping the factory computer?
Thats what im doing just using the ms to run the ignition and fuel.

Yea I had a ems 4 on my gsxr1000 it was ok at best never tought about ms...I will let you know if I need any help thanks!
