NAV safety lock with voice commands to be fixed?

As I've said in a previous reply:

Bigger cities it gives the house/building outlines I've noticed.[/COLOR]

yeah those are the ones i have, the day one the colors are weird, in rural/suburban areas, the streets and 'land' are the same color, i made sure they were the robert palmqvist ones too

I can't seem to be able to update the software using TomTom Home. Keep getting server time out when it get to the "Download TomTom application and for Car and Motor Navigation". I got the Nav used, the NAV never updated before, this is the first time. Do I need to do something first? Am I missing something?

I got 20Mbps down and 1Mbps up. Don't think it's the connection problem, I also disable my firewall and anti-virus in case TomTom not liking this on, still getting time out, I can update other things ok and I get all connection with TomTom server ok when I checked system info as below. Wondering if there's problem with TomTom server?

* Connection Status:

Just noticed another minor annoyance with the new 10.851 update.
When you first turn the car on it has that white warning screen, before 10.851, there's a setting so that it disappears after a few seconds.
Now with 10.851, you HAVE to touch the Agree button to get rid of it :(

I noticed that too. Sucks! And it's supposed to increase safety? By creating another distraction?

I have talked with TT support about this and, eventually, they acknowledged it as a problem. Here's how they left it with me:

Thank you for the information, I already reported this information to be fixed with the next Tom Tom Application.

We take all customer feedback received very seriously in the future development of our products. We have passed your comments on to our Product Management Team.

Please wait for the next Tom Tom application to be available to download to fixed this issue, we appreciate your patience and understanding.

If you need anything else please let me know and I will be more than happy to help you.

The other issue I am having, that I noticed after the upgrade but I can't swear it's related, is when I play music or podcasts using the bluetooth tab I get no information about what's playing. It says No Song Name, No Artist Name, No Album Name. If I'm playing Pandora and listening via the Pandora tab I see the information, but if I press on Bluetooth, nothing. I'm curious if anyone else is having this issue or is it just me?(huh)

OK I have the 10.851 fix, does anyone know what the latest map version numbers are. I saw a number saying 925.5449, when i hit display version number screen..is that the latest maps number? New here, so any help would be appreciated. Only have 100 miles on my car (bought mid January 2014) as a 2014.5 GT. Thanks :)

O.K., thank you ..I do have 925. I must have done something right! :)

Sure, and since you're new, just as an fyi - it's not difficult to keep your software updated. You don't need the dealership to do it. You will use TomTom Home and the instructions are at http://us.support.tomtom.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/6218/kw/update software . It will updated the map as well as other data. If they come out with a new map within 90 days of your purchase, you can get it free using the Latest Map Guarantee - info at http://www.tomtom.com/en_us/maps/latest-map-guarantee/

Also, if you're so inclined, you can change the avatar your map uses using the Menu but if you want you can also add a custom one:
1. Create the image to a size of 80x80 pixels.
2. Give the image a red background (RGB 255,000,000). (The red becomes transparent on your device)
3. Save the image as a 24 bit .bmp in the art\cars folder of your device.

I've attached the CX-5 in blue that I made in case it works for you.

Finally, you can use create points of interest using the NB1 but I find it to be cumbersome. I'd much rather input or search an online map and add the entry to a POI .ov2 file. You can easily do this by going to http://www.poieditor.com/ and creating a POI file. Copy the .ov2 file to your map folder (for you, USA_Canada) and you're all set. If you want to get fancy, create a 24x24 bmp file with the same name and also put it in the map folder. Now your POIs will have your own graphic. :)

I said Finally already, but I just thought of one more thing. :) It was recommended to me to periodically copy everything on my SD card to a folder on my computer so if I ever had an update fail or corrupted card I'd have something to start from. This advice turned out to be very helpful at one point so I also pass it on.

Have fun!
