NA Tech Race to 100whp per 1000cc's

I have talked with Mike (KLZE Porsche) a lot about this build and he has helped me a lot with some of the detail stuff. I actually just spoke with him last night about the ITB setup. His application is very different from mine.

I am wanting to keep this under the hood without the huge bulge in the hood. He figures in his he is going to have to do something pretty wild with his hood. He is also doing his for a F.I. setup and using a different transmission (where he has to move the motor and such around anyways). Doing the cross ram would be nice, but one..its very complicated, two I do not have room under the hood for something like that. The issue is the height at the front head deck..the stock manifold slopes back away from the hood and is only marginally taller that the valve cover..so I run out of room quickly.

I like the putty/clay idea though..might have to give that a shot!

Why don't you start a build thread and take some photos :)

we'd all love to see this thing "in the build".

I can do that..However, it will just be a pile of parts right now...still...I am so anxious to get this thing going..at least the wheels are turning and such.

FSDE N.A. Build

I took some pics last night after mounting external parts.Almost done.

What header is that? looks like a shorty ... chances of that making the kinda power you would need to put a suitable entry into this race are slim to none...

How much power you chasing down? ... either way engine bay looks nice and clean :)

Microtech LT10s,Integral cams stage 2 in,stage1 ex, p&p milled head,10.4:1 pistons(11:1 wiseco's with 5.4"rods waiting to go in with Fidanza flywheel and LSD,)supertech springs, titanium retainers, OBX 4-1 header, SR camgears,Unorthodox crank pulley,SLS catless midpipe,Magnaflow catback, gasket matched 626 intake,K&N CAI,AWR pan, front rear motormounts,AEM UEGO,I think that's it. Probably fire it up next week.Did it all myself except the headwork and some Microtech advice from Lord Worm,Sam at Crossover and Ken PG.

What does your build consist of?

Well,it's worth a try,I don't see that Wisconsin guy on here anymore or anyone posting new stuff on theirs,so I figured I'd show what I've got. It's an OBX header.I'm hopin for 200 crank although I wont be doing an engine dyno, maybe 160 whp, specially when I do the new pistons long rods.

Any room in the budget for a decent header? The 626/MX-6/Probe 4-2-1 would do you more good but you'll need to modify the rest of your exhaust. AWR has their header listed on their site again, that would be the best option if available.

Although you might as well keep the OBX and if you want more power down the road go with a better designed header.

Sure you got one, can i use my Magnaflow ****** sounds real nice? Just got this from AWR;

Brian
It was accidental that the header showed up on the new store. If we get enough interest we may consider doing a short production run again though.
awr
SO

LETS GET TOGETHER AND HAVE EM MAKE SOME MORE HEADERS IM IN!

I am using a SCAT I-Beam..they are pretty light, I forget the number off-hand. What kind of rpm are you looking for?

What are you tuning with? What if anything are you doing for an intake manifold?

Just kind of curious, don't see n/a FS motors built up very often.

626 manifold.Tuning with a G-Tech,about 7200 max on stock rods/pistons,a little more when switch to long rods.

People building small displacement, high revving, high horsepower (relatively) motors are a rare breed indeed. I know as well. :D

Is there not a better option or are you porting the manifold or anything? What about a throttle body?

LOL.....People building small displacement, high revving, high horsepower (relatively) Mazda piston motors are pretty much non-existent.

And BR I think the only thing you need to modify is your mid-pipe for the Probe header, though I'm really not positive.
