NA Tech Race to 100whp per 1000cc's

actually for all motor power i think it'd be still be installshield2...jimmysuite prob has the crown for current active members....twilightprotege is getting over 200hp when he's on the nitrous, but nitrous use invalidates him from the contest....

tripoint may or may not have won already (i'd say installshield was making more power....and he still fell short by a handful of horsepower)....without knowing exactly what was done to the engine....well...they might not like the kinds of secrets i would want to know to validate their power....

someone tell installshield2 come back and give updates ;P

would if i knew how to contact him
he seems to pop in from time to time

when last i asked he backed some of the RPM out of the thing to make it a little "safer"...but i think he was still running some ordinary manifolds at that stage...so who knows.

imagine giving him the manifold and throttle body from the TRI-POINT Protege... i'm sure it wouldv'e been enough...

if so... i see what you're saying now LordWorm about manifold> ITB

I'm possibly parting out the car.(peep)

To many things going against me on this. Trying to do the swap "legally" was gonna be the biggest reason I couldn't get this done. Currently unemployed right now, so depending on weather or not I get a job soon that pays well is gonna determine weather or not I get this pipe-dream off the ground or the car get sent to block and traded in.

Plus I've really been lusting after a MS6 to.

bah! :P

don't darkside it.... get an NA 6, drop a tripoint spec race motor in it :P then MakeMeGoFast = still the winnah :P

seriously though...the protege is a far better platform imho...the motor is the single biggest let down. KLZE might not be feasable, but a FE-DOHC would be perfect for achieving the power goal.

Wheres everyone at... Jimmy? haven't heard from you in a while....

I'm still around.... working more hours, still getting married this fall yet and have been looking for a house. The car is still running strong, and I still have that spare FSDE just waiting to become a high compression, lightweight forged monster.

I really want to get a few runs in at the dragstrip soon to get a better idea of where I'm at compared to Twilight and LW

Sounds like you've been bitten hard by the NA bug man :) the forged FSDE is barely run in, and its replacement is already in the garage waiting for treatment... haha. Did you ever get another dyno run? what kind of power you putting down now its all tuned etc?

You'll smash me... best i did was a 15.2... with less than half what you've got! - if you don't put my times to shame there would be something very wrong!

all motor, you'd probably even do Twilight in - although he is a real demon off the lights and most of his impressive times are down to outright ability, as opposed to brute horsepower.... that said, I've never seen you on the strip, or heard of your exploits...so who knows what you'll do :)

i'd expect, if you can get your 60's down to the flat 2 second mark or better, on a good track with good weather/temps, on some nice drag radials, you'll run low 14's... Twilight runs almost into the 13's now, with the nitrous - so he's making more outright power but only from second gear onwards....should be interesting to see how you go - keep us posted!

I'm keen to hear about this forged light weight monster - plans in mind yet? I've got a bit of a collection of things i might not be using anymore (planning to go to a different power plant, assuming i can find what I want for a decent price....)...so send me a pm with your msn if you want to have a chat..

hey LW, do you think 505zoom's intake manifold is worth getting for NA? have you checked it out yet? it's in the works to be made for a lot of people...

Runners are way to short for NA. And your cars powerband would end up being very peaky .

thought so... with it being in the MSP threads i was realised it was better for boosted guys....

i know of a shop somewhat locally that custom builds intake manifolds... maybe i could get one custom made...

but i was thinking of saving up for a EMS first to run everything

Does anyone out there make a big bore throttle body besides Corksport's AutoEXE rediculously priced one?? For the 2.0 P5 that is

I've got like a 3 inch intake and like a 2 inch or 2 1/2 inch throttle body... I forget the numbers I'm just making s*** up

short runners and plenum too big. Download the spreadsheet i put in this thread somewhere and check out what an NA intake manifold would turn out like... you'll end up with relatively long runners (depending on which reflection you are going to use... i think reflection 3 is going to be about the best you'll fit behind the FS in the P5...but reflection 1 would be great for huge hp if you could fit it!), and a pretty small plenum chamber (off the top of my head i think its 60% of engine displacement*volumetric efficiency.....)

as for the throttle body thing.....again, look at the spreadsheet. You'll see that a large throttle body, without taking other things into account is NOT going to be optimum (too much of a drop in intake velocity into the plenum chamber). There are formulas in the spreadsheet that work all this stuff out for you - wrote the thing as a cheat sheet for all to use..just plug in your numbers and it'll work out a fair amount of things for you (intake manifold design, target VE for desired horsepower, piston kinematics, injector requirements, and so forth)
