NA pro5 beats Porsche boxster

HP mods ? All I see is an exhaust, pulley and drop in filter. All in all, that's 10-12 whp gained, and I am being generous. And by the way, pulley's do not help whp that much; not enough that you would "own most of u" In fact, they have a detrimental effect on our P5's due to the loss of the harmonic dampener.

Cmon man ... do your research, but more than anything else, DYNO your car before you begin making claims of "150 at the engine, more at the wheels" (notcool)
 
ok, first off... my cousin has a boxster. there's no way in hell you could have beaten him even "with your mods." have you ever thought about the possibility that he didn't want to race you BECAUSE YOU WERE ON SURFACE STREETS???? and maybe he was trying his hardest to stay off the gas so you won't pull a ricer fly by on him?

i must say though... you are the coolest guy ever to own a p5.

Find me a test of any car where the auto version of the car has a faster 0-60 time than the manual version. I cannot imagine where you got this idea from.

JunkPunch - Automatic cars are all about consistancy in the 1/4mile but hinder you in the 0-60 run. A 0-60 time is all about launching and you can't launch with an automatic.
 
probably from the same place he got the idea he beat a boxster. and from the same place he thought he could beat most of the people on this board. whatever.

u people are idiots...150 @ engine more GAIN at wheels than another 150 without a pulley...um yeah i could take your manuals any day Bring it all, of u...i have owned cars that have gone faster than u could dream in a car 140mph in Benz 450slc...beat 5.0's w/ a Alfa Romeo 164l and eaten ricers with a buick 3.3l Skylark AHHAHA so now i am doin my Japanese import thing and i could launch on a manual anyday..while u are findin your gears...i will be gone...trust me...soooo.(yawn) now i got the whole nest buzzin...just how i like it.....oh and he wanted to race me cause i did pull a ricer fly by on him before hand and he caught up to me specifically to race me....it was a beater boxster but trust me I HAD HIM...I have raced innumerable times against every car in so many different cars...i have been destroyed by porsches and corvettes even saleens in my p5 and they always like to race to show off their 50k+ car..wouldnt u? I always liek to see them go...trust me i wasnt expecting the outcome...and i think that the BOXSTEr not he boxster S has less horse than 220...i think it is in the high 180's but i am sure u will tell me if i am wrong

But launch doesn't matter with 1/4 mile? Here's the thing - you have complete control with a manual. You can redline every gear or whatever you want. With an auto, you are at the mercy of how the tranny is programmed.

If you can find ANY car that has a faster 0-60, 0-100, 1/4 mile, WHATEVER, with an auto than with a manual, I would be completely shocked.
 
i can control my auto...i put it to the limiter and it shifts down.... it hardly ever shifts when i dont want it to...
 
JunkPunch - 3500rpm stall convertor... Launching issues solved. Most high HP domestic drag cars use what kind of transmission? I'm not trying to deny you that a manual is the better deal and I never did say that autos were faster than manuals. I just stated that it's all about consistancy.

Akhilleus - Next time provide a dyno slip before stating how much HP your car has.

i am only stating my hp based on what someone else said who had less hp mods...makes sense to think my car is has a but more right...and yes i am new...so u all probably think i am full of s***...that time will come to an end..personally i didnt want to start sharing until i KNEW my car was worth sharing about...so whatever i am not going to explain my CAI to anyone or how the cams work out...cause u people are ungrateful

You are correct about drag cars. They use autos because they can gear and program them specifically for the 1/4 mile runs. Consitency is the game there.
 
Junkpunch - Do you consider a triptronic an automatic? How about the F1 paddle system on the ferraris? You don't use a clutch to shift the gears but you can still manually select them.

So you're saying that because someone here who has less hp mods on his car knows less about "HP modding" than you do? That's a bold statement to make.

We don't think you're full of s***, we just think that there was something going on with that Boxster because there is no way you'd be beating him, even with all your HP mods you have.

We all support each other and try to be positive towards other's mods in this forum, from the guys who put on body kits and stickers, to the guys who have custom turbo kits, to the guys that just a few cosmetic mods, to the guys who keep their cars stock.
All our cars are worth sharing and we're not doggin' on your car or it's mods (it's a nice list), we're just trying to talk about the fact that a Pro5 is not a speed deamon and it takes a lot, like a turbo, to get it moving so it can contend against the "big boys" you mentioned.
