Anyone know what the heck this squeak-beep sound is coming from the engine when the car is off.

I don't have Sirius like this post said.

So any idea?

mine doesn't do this but I do notice when I'm changeing my oil after I run it a sec to double check for leaks and oil level I hear what sounds like teh computer resetting... its like beep beep click.. then stops jsut sounds like the transmission or something doing a diagnostic kinda...

WEIRD. I've never heard something like that on my car and hopefully I won't. I don't have a clue but I suggest show the clip to your dealership and chime us in for what might be causing that beeping sound. Although i don't think it is something major. Goodluck.

I get it almost EVERY TIME I shut my car off!!! Dealer has NO CLUE what it is!!!!

I started hearing and thought it was something in my garage. But then my 7rd old son heard by front passenger tire. I opened hood and it was definitely coming from engine compartment.

I had my tires rotated and oil changed and the mechanic who supposedly is the "MAZDA" man (very cool guy) got a chance to hear it. He said it sounded more metallic like things were cooling off. However it is DEFINITELY a electrical beep. This was last week and he was suppose to look into.

It is driving me up a friggin wall!!!

I have to add that I do have Sirius, but I have my iPod hooked up, so I would have to say its not the Sirius.

It sounds more like a whistle. Like something is blowing puffs of air through a small hole. Right at seconds 13 and 14 i hear a whoosh just after the whistle which really sounds like air moving too fast or too slow for good tone. (Sorry former band geek).

However I can't think of anything in the engine bay that would be blowing puffs of air after you shut down the engine.

given its methodical nature and almost even-spaced intervals...might be being controlled by something

dealer may wana get it , unplug the batt or something see if whatever it is will turn off

I would definitely put a quick release setup on the negative battery terminal to try to narrow it down. To me it sounds either like metal on metal or air pulses squeaking by. VERY odd.

Or perhaps someone set you up the bomb.
