Mystery Hose found after head gasket change

Hello all, recently my FIL did a head gasket change on our 2015 CX5 2.2d, when he finished, he found this pipe on the floor. He's had a look around, but can't seem to find where it goes. I've also searched all over the internet and can't find a clear answer to what it could be. Is anyone here able to help identify it?

It's 12cm in length, and the small sleeve is 5cm in length. It's 1cm in diameter.

Judging from this picture, the hose look like new. Doesn't show any marks from clamps or wearing. It might not even be from your car? Maybe it was laying down on the floor when you parked the car in the garage and nobody noticed until the work was complete?

I’d 2nd ADS’s opinion. Even if it was just a friction fit over some piping, after 10 years in the engine bay, even if you regularly clean and hose it out, I’d expect some road and engine gunk to be on there. In the picture, it looks new clean.

Nah, I see abrasion marks on it. I think it's from the car (although I don't know what it is)

I'll take a look under the hood of my 2019 2.2 if I see something similar
