my S14 240sx build......

Update: Ive went to my friends place to check out the 240, and I found an exhaust leak from the wastegate so I fixed that up, and started the beast up for some videos. then I found a huge colant leak, so sorry no videos yet going to take care of that colant leak tomorrow and thats when the videos will come

damn!!! well videos aint coming for about a week now, a colant line broke while he was driving and he let it over heat all the way and blew the head gasket. So I gotta change that out

Ah man that sucks...wtf happened you figure? Doesn't look like your sending the head out. I'm surprised to see the water pockets/jackets so corroded?

cuz the kid im doing it for doesnt know much bout cars, and one of the colant hoses burst and it leaked all the colant out and it started over heating and thats how the head gasket blew. cuz the head was torqued down to specs

hey I have a question for you 240 nuts, its kinda weird, if you start a 240 with the whole timing cover off would the oil and coolant mix???

Forgive the reply two months later (haven't been on the board in a while) , but anyhow:

I don't know how you could start a ka with any part of the timing cover off. The lower cover has has both the oil pump and the water pump mounted to it and the upper has the distrubutor attached. So no, the fluids will not mix since they cannot flow.

Unless you meant the valve cover, in that case still no there is no coolant flowing through that part.

thats what I was thinking, its just the kid Im doing this all for got an idiot mechanic to check what I did for some reason and he told me that the other mechanic started the car with the timing cover completely off to check timing which was unheard of to me

its not busted the kid I built it for just let it over heat and I changed the head gasket now its all better, havent dynoed it yet but its very quick probably around 450whp

did you guys check the head for warping? cause if not you might expect him calling you up for another head gasket...

the kid didnt want me to take the head to a machine shop to test it if its warped even though I told him too, when I put everything back together the oil and coolant started mixing (not surprising), then I had to do it all over again and took it to a machine shop and had it resurfaced cuz it was warped .0007 inch and put everything back together.
