My problem with production numbers

i've been trying to tell all you guys that! why do you think that a few people on this board have said they have the same production number? its bs! only the mp3 has production numbers. Sorry, hate to tell ya. They prolly just take part of your vin and tell you thats your prod number

Well..........then MAZDA USA is playing a good game with us, then. I haven't talked with anyone with a MAZDASPEED that has the same Production # as anyone else. But who knows........

Then why when you call Mazda do they tell you a production number?
They pulled up all of my information and then gave me a number and that number #467 is nowhere in my VIN number. Why would they tell us numbers if there aren't any?
And no guys I don't expect you to necessarily answer this or that you would have the answer to this. It is just bringing up the questions that I am sure everyone has on their minds!

maybe some of phone people don't know at all or are totally clueless, but when I talked to mazda salesman, who called mazda directly, said there have been no Mazda issued production number on the Mazdaspeed. They do exist for the MP3.

I know, I'm beating a dead horse here. I have talked to 'several' of the fine folks at MAZDA USA in Irvine, CA; and needless to say, as many here will tell you; I have acquired a production # for MAZDASPEEDs for several of our members. What #s are they giving me? All I know is they are pulling them from a list.

A car salesman's info? Well; that's usually worthless information on most things, isn't it?!

most of the time, but not when he's your friend and sold us 7 mazdas :D (all under invoice because we're good customers, check the sig)

Just because they weren't tracking production #'s at the time the FAQ was written does not mean that they didn't compile vins and assign production #'s after the cars were done. It is not hard to do. Hell, the vin is specific to the Mazdaspeed, so I am sure that Mazda knows which cars are which  ..

No offense, I know the salesman is a friend and you have bought several cars from him, but salesmen are at the mercy of what they are told- then they "sell" it.. If they don't know it for a fact, they are at the mercy of what they are told. Unfortunately, most of the time, they are totally clueless.. I called one Mazda dealer looking for an MSP and the salesman told me they "weren't out yet" :wtf: and tried to push the 6 on me since it has "more hp anyway"..

thats possible they were assigned afterwards. my friend/salesman wouldnt do that, i mean, we talk a lot and he knows what he is doing, hes a "serious" salesman, actually drives a mazda himself. salesman is his day job, but he's really into cars as well. anyhow, i suppose its possible, but i've still been hearing chit-chat that is conflicting on whether they are correct numbers or not.

Looking at your sig....how did you manage to get a 2002 MSP? As far as I knew, they didn't make a 02 model, only a 03 & 03.5

Maybe that's why you can't get your prod #...you have the only 02:D
