This is an amazing PDA. It's an older model, but it is so powerful; I doubt I will ever catch up with it for my daily activities. I was using a Casio 8mb PDA, which did a fine job keeping my addresss, contact info, etc... for the Vendors I buy from. Plus; much more. But this iPaq is like the Rolls Royce in the PDA marketplace. When I originally purchased this 2 years ago (for an executive), it sold for $500.00. A few weeks back, this person decided they wanted the latest and greatest iPaq (H5555 - $649.95), so I got this one for myself.

I have everything synchronized. It has Word, Excel, Outlook, etc..., etc... It has has the additional sleeve that houses an additional 128mb memory (I have that too). And; a nice leather case. I had to download the Active Sync software from Microsoft, but I have it pretty much figured out now, and it is one hell of a nice item to have in my work.

nice, a fellow pocketPC'er. ive been using a casio em 500 for over 2 years now. its been through brutal punishment and drops and still keeps on going.

and the directional pad is still the best for games of any pocketpc or palm ever made.

sadly the battery is only holding up 1/2 what it used to, so i am considering a ipaq 1940.

great sites if you dont already know them:

enjoy the pocketpc goodness. :)

Get the pocket NES emulator. Its fun to play Mario 3, Punch Out etc. Also, I have a 320mb CF card for movies. I can fit a full 2 hour divx on there (recompressed at a proper size) and a couple of Simpsons Episodes. They are so fun.

I am a programmer also, and was working on a 3D game for PocketPCs but haven't done much since it got warm out. Gotta get back to that! :).

Oh, and I own a Audiovox Maestro.

I have been wanting to upgrade my Palm to a PocketPC device... but I hate the huge increase in price. Has anyone had any experience with the new Dell handheld?? its PocketPC based, seems to have all the features of a iPaq, but its only $198, to me thats a total bargain.

michaelnchelle - for the price I've heard good things about the Dell. There is also on by Viewsonic for cheap that people seem to love: http://www.compusa.com/products/product_info.asp?product_code=297795&pfp=BROWSE

One thing I like about my Audiovox Maestro (which is hard to find nowadays and getting a bit outdated by XScale processors) is that it has a CF slot AND a SD slot. So you could have a wireless network CF card and a 256mb SD card or something at the same time. Theres a new HP that does that too.

That ViewSonic (for $249.95), is nice! I just bought one for one of the executives here at work.

As an ex-Dell employee, I've seen and played with the Axim X5 and it's VERY nice for the price. You can't beat it when compared to other handhelds. Check it out if you're in the market.

Yeah, when the battery on my Maestro dies I might pick one of these up. Of course, by that time something faster and cheaper will be available :p.

Would I have paid $500.00 ++ dollars....

for this iPaq I have now? No way! It's more Pocket PC than I will ever need. But; as a hand-me-down, it's all grins, baby! Not to mention, the sleeve containing the extra 128mb, & the leather case. It's amazing how it links to my PC. Very cool!!

i have 3 ipaqs(i manage an IT Dept.) and have been happy with them...i've recently graduated to a Blackberry which gives me corporate email anywhere i go...not as fancy of a set up as the ipaqs but it helps to have a wireless handheld for email and internet access...
