well i did a lot of research and number crunching to figure out what rims will fit properly with my 26 X 9.5 X 16 hoosier QTP's that i already ordered. i figured i needed a 16 X 7 rim with an offset of 38-40 to compensate for the huge ass tires ! i ended up getting a steal on some stock late model mustang V6 wheels. they are 16 X 7 with a 39mm offset....perfect !! i bolted them up last night with original
215/65/16 tires still mounted. keep in mind that the stock mazda tires are about 25.6" tall. the ford tires are 27" tall !!! they did fit in there with very light rubbing on hard turns, but no big deal. the slick i got are about 0.9" wider, but they are also 0.9" shorter than the ford tires. so, it sound to me like a pretty damn good fit !! if i geet a little rub turning onto the return road, i dont give s***, as long as it goes straight good ! the best part is 2 wheels with tires i paid $75 !! works for me !
i did take some pics before i drove it around. the tires were a little low in the pics, but you get the idea. i did fill them before i drove it.
here is the clearance in the rear of the wheel well with wheel turned
here you can see where it just barely touches the plastic inner fender on a hard turn
