Hey everyone, glad to join this forum. So I would like to introduce myself by telling you about my week. Here's some background info before I begin: been thinking about buying a car but didn't pursue it seriously. Started researching cars Monday, 6/28. Made some test drive appts for Wed, 6/30.

Tuesday 6/29 - Wife home early from work, so I said let's go for some test drives. Called up my 2 appts and said I'm coming over now. Test drove the CX9 and was blown away. I also wanted to drive a Hyundai Veracruz but the idiot salesman at the other dealership only told me after I called that he didn't have any 2010s in stock. I did drive the genesis which is one sweet ride. But anyway....

Tuesday nite: wife says CX9 was a nice car. I said "let's get it." She said "it's your call.". I said " it's the most impulsive thing I've ever done, but if the price is right, let's go for it."

Emailed all my dealer quotes with price inquiries.

Wednesday 6/30 - Knowing that I know that they know that I know it is the end of the month, end of the period and end of the 0% promo, I was pretty hardcore with the negotiations. Started negotiations at 8am (email/phone), got my price at 1pm, picked up my car at 3pm, outta there at 4pm with my new 2010 Dolphin Gray CX9 Grand Touring AWD w/Navi and Moonroof.

There you have it, my three day research, test-drive, purchase adventure.

As for the last two days, been happy as a clam. Couldn't be more thrilled.

Looking forward to conversing with all you nice Mazda folks.

There are times I wish I could just "go for it"! I tend to research everything to death be it a $100 printer or 30-40 large on a new ride.

Here's hoping for many more happy as a clam days. I'm still that way 9 months and 13k miles later.

Congratulations - as an owner for a few years now - let me tell you, at least for me, the feeling doesn't go away. Everytime I get into the 9, it's like the first time. 2 years down the road and the bloody thing STILL has that "new car smell" - we LOVE it. Welcome to the 'club' and the forum!

Congrats, DLam.

Enjoy your ride. I dont know what it is, but there is some kind of thrill or enthusiasm that comes over me being a CX9 owner, so much so that anywhere I see the letters "CX9" my head snaps and I am compelled to read what it says. The vehicles are just absolutely beautiful and so much fun to drive. Can anyone else relate to this feeling?

And I agree with SportOwner. I was looking at the Veracruz too, mainly for the generous warranty, but compared to the CX9, it's fugly.

Congrats DLam!

Teedeebee...that feeling comes from any Mazda vehicle, Mazda has it down right for the handling and sporty aspect of vehicles...design is subjective but I think they are very nice looking vehicles!

Enjoy!

Thanks for the well wishes everyone. I'm not usually like this - I'm just like ohmboy, I research everything to death. But in this case, everything just kinda fell into place. Looking forward to crossing paths with many CX9 friends on the road.

We test drove a Veracruz while shopping for a new vehicle just out of curiosity because it seemed you could get a lot for the money. While it's an ok vehicle for the price, you get what you pay for and it comes no where near the capabilities, comfort, or sportiness of the CX9. It just simply felt cheap to drive, so don't feel bad about not getting one. I don't think it comes near the quality/performance of a Genesis. Congratulations on the purchase!
