my msp stinks.....really bad

i was bringing my sons new bike home and i had the trunk open because the bike stuck out a little bit and the seats were down. i was driving and the cel came on, so i pull over and as soon as i come to a stop i get this horrible stink from my exhaust. its almost like a rotten animal smell (yes i checked for a rat or cat in there but no luck). the car still runs great but i never noticed the smell untill the trunk was open while driving. any one have a idea? i dont like stinky cars......

stinky cat? usually after a spirited drive mine did that, just replaced exhaust and i dont get it (high flow cat)

could be caused by ur cat. converter or it could be that ur car is misfiring or running rich

judging by the cel its prob misfires, go to autozone or something and have them read the code

Mine smelt like rotten eggs for a while. Cut out the two cats and put in a straight pipe and problem solved.

i agree with this statement, get the cel read.

ill get it done today, as for the cats, all i have is the pre-cat right after the down pipe. the rest is 3 inch back.

+1 on Cel.

Mine did that and it was a bad cat with bad 02 sensor. This was on a Mitsubishi, but it was so bad I even started smelling it thru my a/c vents as well.

Did you use to smell that BEFORE the CEL?
