My MSP in a accident!!

I was practicing my cornering in my hometown, and BOOM, sliced the curb at 45!!

I was expecting more understeer then what I got, my friends civic and celica all understeered, so I figured mine would too.

So I took the corner ass tight, and cocked the wheel, it looked like I would clear.

Wrong. Luckly for me my reflexes were half decent, and I avoided a full flat and body damage.

But I am left with scratched Racing Hearts!!!!

And a badly scuffed tire!

I smoothed out the scratches, and might apply touch up paint in the morning or tomorrow.

Lesson learned: MSP has little understeer if any between 45 - 65 mph!

I know, I know its my fault, but thats why they call it practice right? I just wish I changed my tires like my friends did, what an idiot I am!

Anyway, is anyone selling or know someone who is selling 2 Racing Heart rims! Or new tires? I need one, my friend said he could hook me up with Sumajumas(Huge SP) Oh well, just though I would rant! Thanks

if you hit a curb at 45 and only did wheel damage i will be surprised.

how would understeering help you in this situation??? Sounds like your car was nuetral, which is good. Understeer would've made you slam into the curb harder.

Explain that again?

I think he hit the inside curb, not the outside.

Maybe you should "practice your cornering" on an autocross course or empty parking lot. I'm just happy that curb wasn't a person or somebody's car or something.

Damn man!! Why didn't you get some orange cones and practice in an empty parking lot??!!

Be lucky you didn't slam the corner, seen the damage that can cause of the Proteges chassis. :(
Sounds like you corrected quick enough to just scrap the curb and ride it a bit.
Lucky.
And lucky as said it wasn't a person.
Though can't complain cause I do the samething on empty no place streets...only they don't have curbs. :)

But ya cones or even tennis balls in a parking lot work well. Just stick some rubber on the bottms so they don't roll. Chalk outline where you place them and have at it.

yeah,, Im slowly but surely going faster around curves.. I gotta get a feel for the car first.. I knew my civic up and down, but its going to take a while for me to learn my MSP that well..

Not to bag on you when you're down, but the hands-down best place to learn the handling characteristics of your car is at an autocross event. Most club events aren't as expensive or ultra-competitive as some SCCA events, and you can learn at your own pace in a (relatively) safe environment with good advice from more experienced drivers.

My 2 cents...sorry to hear about your misfortune.

hrmph, that sux.

has anyone else noticed that most (or all) msp accidents on this forum involve drivers under 21? HMMM....

Hey guys, thanks for the support lol.

Well I went to the dealship today to get thier high prices and was surprised.

Turns out the rim cost about 450(no big surpise there) So I will cost about 1G to fix(I always round up for money)

The big surprise was the price of the tire, they charge 186. Sounds high right? I got my mechanic(friend) to ask around for me, turns out that is the cheapest price by far in my area! One tire dealer wanted 400 for one tire, no lie.

Well I am pissed as sh%% right now, but I touched up the scratches on the rims, they don't look TOO BAD, so I can live with that, so I only need the tires.

Good point on the practice tips, live and learn and then get luvs.

yeah, curbs suck. I hit one pretty hard in my P5, and banged her up so badly that it took 3 weeks to fix, but I managed to get Motegi wheels outta the insurance company.

Curbs suck, well somewhat.

Ouch to the wheel price. My local dealer quoted me $320 for one. All the years I've been driving and I have owned well over 100 cars and the MSP is the one I have to hit a curb with parallel parking it :( ..
Joe

get new wheels instead of paying 450 for that stock s***. am i the only 1 who doesnt liek the msp wheels on our msp's!? i love em on pro5 but not the msp...
